Stuart has been promoting his "Top #55" pics on LinkedIn for the last few weeks.

I've got his books but they're buried away somewhere, I must dust them off.

When I was working for TWR fanzine, I interviewed the fella when his "Homes Of Football" was based at Ambleside.

If you're not familiar with his work, you'll have seen the likes of this...

But there are dozens of others. Some moving, some inspirational, some just hilarious...

Does anyone have any particular favourites?

Used to enjoy that magazine.

I've got a signed book with all those pics in. There are some toppers.

Apart from the actual goal being scored, this is a truly tremendous pic and it adorns the cover of his first book iirc.

Standing fans, the tattered flag, the blue sea, the rooftops, the gadgee perched on the floodlight tower. Love it...

Ben, did you ever have a boat?

If that's a "Jaws" reference, then yes!

One of the greatest football pictures of all time in my opinion, for many of the reasons you've mentioned....

I curated a Homes of Football exhibition in Gateshead and the huge photographs looked great on the walls. Newcastle supporters weren't happy as it was possibly Sunderland heavy.

I was also working at that time with someone involved with The Mag who seriously let me down in getting a 'name' for the preview night.

This one brings back memories of some of the great night matches at Roker Park.

The walk up to the ground in the pissing rain, standing with strangers that were still your best mates, reaching the top of the steps and looking out over the brightest greenest turf you can imagine ... and then preying the game was gonna be a classic. It didn't happen too often but let's pause and think back to Chelsea in the '92 FA Cup run

I think this was Derby's old Baseball Ground.

did you include 'over the wall' to keep them happy?

Was Gazza drunk again?

No recollection of what Newcastle photos were there. I made sure Sunderland had the pride of place, however.

i was thinking of this one he took, a sunderland photo but might keep the mags happy...

he must have had a couple of crafty test shots to get this moment of tension. Those eyes!
i gonna put it down to years & years of doing it... the photo above of liam o'brien is a perfect case - an entire ground frozen (like tony normans feet!) with one single person (o'brien) with his hands up...

edit: was it tim carter or norman in goal?
