He's provided cheap tickets, international players, a world class manager and PL football ...... no one else wants to buy the club.
He tried to compete, realised he couldn't and said so .... hardly sticking his fingers up to the supporters of the club.
Previous owners promised the earth, delivered nothing and laughed at the supporters behind their backs ...
.... at least he does it to their face.
That is true mind. They have also had European football and a top six finish, and when they were relegated, he stumped up huge amounts of cash to get them back up.
But all that aside, this carry on about stadiums man. Who's bothered? They are strange things really. Huge constructions, most of it hardly ever used, the only thing anyone really looks at for any length of time is the pitch and yet so much seems to attached to their general "look" these days.
Must be me venerable age, but for me they are for watching football in and that's it.
As for the hotch potch, no one can deny it has a great location, although from a general point of view , for me the huge extension spoils the look of the City from most approaches. (Whatever Sky and the media would have us all believe, most people are not interested in football, even up here. ). But the twice I've been in it since it was extended to it's current capacity, once I was absolutely bloody freezing, way up high in the Milburn Stand with a view of Wallsend and a bitter wind freezing me bollocks off. The other was a neutral experience not worth commenting on and could have happened anywhere. Looking at it from outside, it always looks as if they went for breeze blocks instead of bricks, which of course is true, but it isn't pretty.
