It's got nothing to do with who the Saudis like or dislike. The Iranian regime has an appalling record towards human rights of it's own citizens. The Mullahs have been developing all sorts of nasties over the decades. Most Iranians want freedom, it was attempted in the early days of the arab spring and was robustly crushed.

The regime is not great but that can be said of a lot of countries. Iran is the great enemy for the US for historic reasons.

Chemical and biological weapons for starters, the Iranians intend to be the regional power since the demise of Iraq, allied to Russia who have vested interests in the region. As for the Iranian people, the majority would prefer a more vanilla western lifestyle, however, the screeching mullahs in power will not allow this. The amount of executions dished out by the regime over the last decade or so is appalling. Don't just take my word for it though, plenty of information to research.

The screeching mullahs that we the west had placed in there? When we didn't like the ones they had. Have you actually read any historic books on the subject? Do you know about Iran contra wars? Or about the sale of arms including biological weapons by us the west to them.

This stuff about iranians wanting freedom smacks of that shite we were spouting when we said the iraqis wanted free of Saddam.

Times change. Agree one hundred percent the Iraqi problem was sold to the world incorrectly. Didn't change the fact that Saddam was a brutal murderer and dictator though. Each to their own, crack on if you think the Iranian leadership are all round good eggs, try telling that to the Iranian people. Definitely no blinkers on here.

Don't think that's the case at all, Vlad annexed the Crimea, so NATO put extra assets into the region as they are flapping in the Balkans, hence the rise in tensions, are or you referring to the alleged Russian votes for Trump?

The Iranian regime has changed a lot over the years but that hasn't made a difference to the US, us, Europe etc. The problem is that they will always be the enemy to the US government (currently, obviously because anyone who can spell Donald is an enemy to the president) Iran looks internally not externally.
