Can't argue and he can't blame being over-bowled. In your defence he was toilet before tea.
He was. But it can't be great bowling when your captain doesn't believe in you.

All series as wellExcuses, excuses.
His captain doesn't believe in him because he's been bowling toilet!

Hang on. He bowled a ball into a footmark and got a wicket? He's taken 3 wickets in the game. It's ok but it's not brilliant.
A leggie gets spin, what's new?
Not making excuses. I wouldn't be even playing him. Not stating reality. Root doesn't trust him. Neither do I.
Doesn't mean I don't want him to clean them up though.

Absolutely brilliant. But McGrath's average is 21![]()
To be honest his first 30 odd tests where he averaged 36 and was being pissed about by experts trying to change his action were a waste of time. He wasn't a top class fast bowler til then and would probably average around 23 since that period.
Interesting stat about Bob Willis which has probably been mentioned on here but he had 325 wickets at 25 better than Jimmy but bowled just under 1000 no balls that didn't go against the bowlers name at the time. his average would have been 29 had it done so.
As mentioned the reason Jimmy's average doesn't compare to McGrath and Steyn is that they were test ready from game 1. Jimmy played 30 tests where he was rough around the edges and he was murdered by our coaching staff. From 2009 onwards his average would have been around 23 I reckon.

Good points. Any idea how many wickets he got in his first 30 tests?
Be charitable. I mean, I think he's absolutely shite - but if it had turned anymore he'd have bowled the lad at the non strikers end?!
Ambrose's is like that too.
Just checked: 405 wickets at 20.99!!!!
Terrifying.
Aye, but to be fair he got to bowl at England in the 90s. I'd have a decent average bowling in his shoes.....Absolutely brilliant. But McGrath's average is 21![]()
