Silly comment that particularly in case of KP.

It’s an old argument anyway and is history now.

Cook certainly doesn’t deserve a comment like that from Morgan though who is meant to be a cricket fan.

It’s not

Pietersen is scum

Nothing controversial about that

Disappointed with this tbh, I thought he had 3 or 4 more years left. I'd have just kept playing him until he passed Tendulkar's record, it's not like we've got any better openers around anyway, plus the Indian seethe would have been sight to behold. I wouldn't be at all surprised if he found some form at Essex and we saw him back in the England test team at some point. Seems like a top bloke and as for his career...the stats say it all.

He should have tried a break first I’m disappointed

Gutted at this, thought cook might have one more ashes, even though he is out of form, great opening batsman, and the amount of times under pressure in his test career...

It’ll be driven by having a young family more than his form.

I’d wager he probably does believe he can recapture a bit of form at some stage, but the drive to do it doesn’t outweigh wanting to spend time with his wife and kids.

Easy to forget just how much he’ll have missed out on given how long he’s been a fixture of the England team.

This is where you let yourself down.
Ridiculous comment.

Which bit?

He should obviously have been fired after the Strauss thing

Any other sport he’d have been gone

It’s really not a controversial option

Britain is a good place, why I live here and the dislike for KP in the country and love For Cook always backs my view up. Just a shame about Brexit!

I just think mentally he's probably at the end of his tether.
He said in his statement that there was nothing left in the tank.
He's been a true great there's no doubt about that.

The ‘scum’ bit. Way OTT. You’re the only person I know who has said that so I’d say it was pretty controversial.

Any other sport he wouldn’t have been gone. The public contempt for Kim Hughes shown by Lillee and Marsh was as bad as KP but they remained.

As I said before KP won’t be the first or last to bad mouth his bosses/superiors he just happened to get caught doing so.

I get people disliking him as he comes across as quite an abrasive character but as I said before I have zero interest in their personalities. Score runs, entertain me then after that I don’t care.

That's true, but the issue is when that person's personality has an impact on the wider good of the team and stops the team scoring runs/taking wickets. That was the issue with KP. It's all well and good staying you have no interest in his personalty from a fan's perspective, which is true, but in a professional cricket dressing room it's a different story. Look at what everyone has been saying about Cook in the last two days, you can see that people would do anything for him and trust him without question, that's the difference for me.

Deluded

It’s a team sport and he was giving team secrets to the opposition

Literally every other sport he’d have been sacked

Imagine fergie putting up with that man

He didn’t give any secrets out at all. None whatsoever. The issue was he bad mouthed Strauss. Couple that with his apparent lack of popularity and he was shown the door.

It’s history now though but to call the bloke scum is nonsense mind.

The bloke wasn’t some mad axe murderer man he was just an arrogant/confident/cocky whatever you want to call it bloke who had a mouth and wasn’t shy in using it.

A lot of what he grumbled about in terms of IPL availability and opportunity for England players to be made more available has ironically come to fruition now as well. If that had been handled better I don’t think we’d have had the issues that occurred in the end.

You must have played in a team where there was someone who was a cock? It's bad for the dressing room and means there is a split in the team. This, at International level given the fine margins there are anyway, can have a huge impact on the team. You must acknowledge that decisions have to be made for the good of the team as a whole, despite the talent one person may have?
