Luke O'Nien

For some reason there's very few players I've wanted to succeed more than O'Nien.

I work in Watford and he is very close to one of my colleagues (they played together for 10 years as juniors). He spoke to him last week and he is genuinely excited about joining Sunderland. He has always been a player who will give it his all.

We need a few more like him on our books!

Just read this as well, the opinion of a commentator who has watched him regularly for Wycombe, speaks so highly of him

I think it’s more of a mummy one, he might need taking care of and looking after :)
Have you had that cold shower yet, Janey?

We need characters and he seems like one.

Good stuff, introduce a load of new positive lads and dilute the stink in the dressing room.
I was at a pub in Masham near Boro on Saturday. My mate told the young bar lad I was a Sunderland fan and we had a bit of crack. Anyway I went in the beer garden and was about to leave the young lad shouted me over. He asked me if I thought we'd go straight back up - I said it depends who we sign. He said we'd have a better chance now as his best mate an avid Wycombe fan had text him to say Sunderland have signed Luke. This bar lad was at uni down that way and as a result had been to 6 Wycome matches with his mate, he explained that the lads a great player much loved and has a cracking personality. He said he been to an away match with Wycombe and there had only been about 20 fans there. Luke came and shook the hand of everyone of them after the game. Now how many players have an attitude like that. Really looking forward to seeing him. Hopefully he does the business.

This is the sort of character we should have had years ago. Am delighted with most of the signings at last we’ll have some character on the team instead of a bunch of overpaid w***ers. Hope we take off with a bang, I have faith in JR s ability to get them playing well. Preseason showed a steady improvement on our play and I think he can continue this.

Bit over the top this thread like, could be an excellent young player for us, bet lets see him play first!

Saw someone on twitter say he was going to be a "club legend" because he was pictured ironing his shirt ffs

I don't often agree with you,but you're spot on here. Let's get the lad signed and see him play.
