Nah I'm not saying it in that respect, that would be a bit hypocritical considering I'm signed up here.
Just correcting you as you missed one out, and obviously this place is about a million times more lively than the Newcastle forum.

Re. The obsession, said it before, but both sets of fans are as bad as each other and know the negative connotations of being deemed obsessed, but we are two biggish clubs who aren't gonna do anything in football terms so we constantly size up against each other, which is a bit daft as it's like celebrating being the fastest runner at weight watchers.

My perception is, and most will disagree, Sunderland fans think mags are deluded for being dreamers and wanting more, probably based on having a nibble of being a half decent side for an 8 year period from Keegan through to Robson. Sunderland fans are more realistic and accept something like doing well is even out of reach,which is why a 7th place finish is still so celebrated, and as long as they could finish higher than Newcastle they'd be happy.

Don't disagree and only replied to the poster as the obsession thing on both sides does my head in.....of course we are interested in each others fortunes, we all revel in the others failure and get nervous when the other has a sniff of 'success'

I know fans from both sides that you could class as 'deluded' and 'realistic' and throw both of your examples at.....truth is we are more alike than we probably care to admit.

I know a lot on here won't agree with it but no issues having a beer and debate about the two teams with mags and fellow sunderland supporters, growing up where support is split means you have to, I have good friends who are mags.....mind you immediate pre and post derby times mean that relations are strained but to be fair we both know where the line is

I’ve had a look and as a previous poster has said, there’s 3 threads about SAFC / 37 on the front page of toontastic. One has 466 pages worth of response and another classic is ‘post something shit about Wearside’.
I can’t be arsed to read many, the general intellect seems to borderline sub-human but in the ones I did read I didn’t notice any blatant Mackem posters on your board which begs the question. Why the f*** do you and your fellow non SAFC obsessives spend so much time on ours?

If there was a dedicated thread on here where everything Newcastle-related went in it would have a lot more than 13K replies tbf. There's around 1500 replies on the three threads on the first page alone.

The one going back to 2012 works out at an average of about 5 replies per day.

One of the many Rafa threads on here reached about 500 pages in a few weeks before it was locked. Within a few weeks another Rafa thread started with around 300 pages in a few weeks.

Point is some Newcastle supporting poster stated that this board obsesses over Rafa and NUFC, when in reality the both the largest SAFC forum and NUFC forum have a healthy amount of threads/posts/replies about the other..........people often get accused of giving a one eyed view of NUFC on here and when someone posts a more balanced position it then gets shot down.....cake and eat it springs to mind

Of course they are going to talk about it each other but to use that as evidence that Newcastle are more obsessed about Sunderland is a bit daft seeing as I'd guess at least a third of content in that thread (rightly or wrongly) is linking and discussing posts that have been put on here that are being seen as ludicrous.

Balanced discussions are few and far between imo, it's a shame as a lot of Newcastle and Sunderland fans get on fine in the same social and occupational circles but some on here are proper rabid and won't give any quarter at all to Newcastle United. It's completely immature imo.

Why is there still a daily forensic analysis of Newcastle's relegation in 2016 and a constant desire to make Benitez look bad in any light?
