MP takes on Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley over his 'exploitation' of the club

You didn't want to answer because your words suggest you think you should be higher than 10th. What you's can't accept is that Newcastle are just part of the PL ballast making up the numbers like all the other clubs.

I didn’t feel the need to answer as by saying ‘mags think they should be finishing higher than they are’ (or similar) you have the impression (and confirmed later) that you already knew the answer.

Seemed pointless answering if you already have the information to hand.

I’ve just had a conversation on Twitter where I was actually told if people in Newcastle aren’t interested in the football team they shouldn’t live there.
So that will be the 1000’s of students that contribute massively to the economy :)

And me and my family.

That's got to be an 'extreme' viewpoint. (Hopefully!)

I want Newcastle to finish first. Where i think they should be is nowhere near that.
But it would be nice to try and improve year on year. Better to try and fail than not try.
Finished 10th last season, lost about a dozen games by 1 goal. Drew a few as well. Had the 8th best defence in the league though. So that to me would suggest maybe improving the side with a high quality striker, which is anything around £20m+ these days, and if we improved in front of goal then there's a chance we could have a go at trying to get into Europe, or at least try to be the best we can be.
Not strengthening at all and delaying moves in the market for the 3rd window in a row is restrictive and imo deliberately regressive.

I’ve seen that conversation, you’ve jumped wildly to that conclusion and been pulled up on it.

The other user merely suggested that a well-run Newcastle United is vital to the economy of Newcastle and it doesn’t take a genius to work that out.

So a little tweaking required and this merits an MP raising the 'plight' of Newcastle United in the Houses of Parliament. f***ing embarrassing doesn't cover it

Bkackpool supporters petitioned parliament to get Karl Oyston to resign but it was rejected.

Not sure about Charlton's protests

Why don't you tweet her and ask her? I'm sure she'd be receptive as it would make her look good to be fighting the cause and all that
I haven’t got time to get into it with her today and I haven’t got the inclination to take the hammering I’d get

Aye, you’re too busy on this thread and combing the #NUFC hashtag to do something you now want someone else to do.

Fair enough imo

No he hasn’t, particularly including this summers business so far.
To be fair to Ashley, would you give a manager millions to spend on players when he won’t commit himself to the club. Benitez is a money grabber and no way will he walk away from a multi million pound contract, he never has and it’s not because of loyalty.

When he walks away in 10 months, the new manager will want his own players brought in and Ashley will be expected to stump up again. Only problem will be, all the decent players bought by previous managers will have already be sold and all that will be left is Benitez’s buys, and who will get the blame when they are sold at a loss?

Yes, a change in policy/strategy from Ashley. A bit of ambition. Fans are fickle and if he let the shackles off a bit in terms of tranfers, or took a risk and spent before money came in every now and then to try and secure first choice targets fans would quieten down a lot. When things go well the protests relax.
This isn't new from Ashley, in 2012 after we finished 5th, with the extra European games coming up, and instead of trying to go again and have another good season, 6 players were allowed to leave from the first team pool and only one came in. Resulted in us almost being relegated, safety only confirmed at the 37th game of the season.

Definitely doesn't warrant parliamentary interference though. This is all about Onwurah

If something doesn't change the food banks will run out ! Apparently the whole working ethic of the city of Newcastle is driven by the football club. That's how serious this has become it's frightening man

Tbf fans going to the game donate massively to the food banks. That cannot be denied its a great and wholly successful iniative. If fans stopped going to games of course it will make a difference , that's blindingly obvious .

Widely reported by the journalists who seem to be well in with Benitez that one of the major sticking points is the reluctance to commit to investment in the training facilities and academy, which was apparently promised when he signed his contract. Still no work has commenced as Ashley sees it as a waste of money as there's no instant return.

Just read the twitter comments, they are just unreal, they take delusion to a whole new level.
@jounnyarm: "Wow! Ashley got brought up before parliament for “modern day slavery” he got proved to a liar in court at keegan trial, look at what he did to rangers & there’s a lot more, he has no ambition to push Newcastle on, it is only a matter of time before we do a Sunderland"

Every cloud :lol::lol::lol:

You don’t then. No bother.

It's a combination of promotion bonuses sanctioned by the owner supporting the manager and future wages costs being written off for players the manager has ostracised and has no use for (again by an owner supporting the manager).

Why do you continue to refuse to acknowledge that the spend has been over and above what has come in since benitez arrived as demonstrated by those figures?

Didnt read the whole thing but does your figures include the 10m+ profit we have made this window?
