Craft Beer

Anyone tried the Northern Powerhouse selection yet ?
Got through it with a couple of mates last night. Enjoyed it all bar the 10.5% stout. Not a huge stout fan anyway but that was rancid.

Agree with the comments on Cloudwater, they seem to churn out so many new beers now but the quality has gone downhill.

There’s also no need for them to charge so much for a can of beer, they’re doing well enough as it is and cans from other breweries like Tiny Rebel, Magic Rock and Red Willow are not that expensive.

Was in there yesterday.

Might be going to Magic Rock today depending on how it pans out, I’m on the train to Hudds now to go to a brewery called Beer Ink.

I’m hoping to pick it up somewhere but haven’t thought where yet.

Completely different drinks.

Nor na.

The likes of Red Willow and Marble are fantastic craft breweries who churn out quality real ales.

Had the lot on Thursday, rough as fuck yesterday, the stout was lush but I'm a massive impy fan. My favourite was the dipa by boxsocial.

Real ale is a specific way of storing and serving beer - by secondary fermentation in a cask and served by hand pump. Craft beer can be real ale, but not all craft beer is real ale.
I think camra are changing their definition to cater for craft ales.

They are. They’re now saying that if what goes into a plastic key keg or can is a good quality product that would be real ale if served from a cask or bottle then they’re willing to call it real ale.

That definition is pretty fuzzy though and getting some of the older CAMRA types to accept that will be a challenge I’d think.

Edit: don’t think their stance on steel kegs has changed.

They had to move with the times but in many ways their entire reason to be has happened. We are awash with top quality micro brewers now. I'm half expecting a group to appear to protect mass produced heavily carbonated chemically preserved lagers.
