@stewartdonald3: @SunderlandAFC Fans - Thank u so much for an unbelievable response. 20,000 season tickets is amazing. You have risen to the challenge, shown faith in us. We will do our very best to deliver. I am honoured to be part of such a special club & thank u 4 welcoming me so positively!

If they think it’s good now, imagine what they’ll think of us if we start winning games.

I'd imagine there will be pressure to re-open to top tier towards the end of next season assuming all is going well

Aye, I can’t imagine these new fellas would turn down the chance to showboat 40k crowds in League 1. It’s still a big ask though after recent seasons.

I don't think it would. I think most Sunderland fans just want to see their team win. By the looks or it we'll be averaging 26-28k next season. If we start winning people will come back, I can see us hitting 40k for the boxing day game (for example) if we are top of the league and playing well. There is always an element of PL Day trippers, but after that we have a fanbase who just want to see us win.

I agree TC and I hope you’re right. I’m always rose tinted and totally biased about the club and it’s support.

I speak as one of the 20k. I don't care one jot that we;re in League One. I want to take my boy to the match along with my mates and their kids and come away with a smile on our faces. We walk back from the stadium to Roker, we nicknamed it "the walk of rage"......be nice if it had a different name next season. I think i'd happily stay in the Championship if it meant winning more than 5 or 6 games a season. Anyway, let's not get ahead of ourselves, let's see what August brings and what the new man can bring to the team

Great post mate.

Anyone reckon we can get the PC open for the first game of the season due to ticket demand? Imagine loads will want to turn up to welcome our new owners/manager/players into this new era!

Would be class to get the place full for it.
