Loved his books - New York Gangster novels - he's known as a chef but he was a great fiction writer as well. I always hoped he'd bring out more novels but alas too late now.

The one in Dublin he was constantly mortal.Loved the Layover and other travel related programmes.Liked a drink as well
Absolutely gutted here. An absolute hero of mine. Whenever I go to a new country I always make a point of going somewhere he's eaten I'm one of his shows. I thought he was great. What a shame.

But a lot of mental health issues can kick in or flip suddenly and people can mask mental health issues in public and also, unlike physical illnesses, celebrities may be reluctant to reveal that they suffer from something.
Can't believe he's dead.
Great shows been watching him for years. Never thought he would commit suicide but bet it was to do with Asia Argento.
She was photographed few days ago with another man.
This ..seems a lot of celebs really struggling especially when a little older,,,v sad ..cannot imagine how much pain you must be in when you "seemingly" have a lot going for youThere's been a canny few suicides in the news this week. Very sad.
It still shocks me that there are people out there that still think that mental health is just something people "can get over". A good friend of my son's suffers from depression, and at one point it got rather severe but when I tried talking to his parents about it, they were so nonchalant about it. Like he just needed it to get over the flu or something. Our lass just told me this. She’s absolutely gutted, she loved him and watched his shows weekly. She can’t understand why he’d do that as he was so successful.
What little I’ve come to know about depression, the outside material success seems to mean absolutely nowt in terms of internal happiness. They said Kate Spade sold her business for billions and she was still tortured inside.

Yeah. I didn’t even recognise it in myself. Only just realised and begun to dig myself out of it. In the process I’ve lost a lot and it’s tough - maybe impossible to put it all back together again. This for someone who by average measures had ‘nothing to be depressed about’. People looking at bourdain will no doubt think that many times over. But it doesn’t care a bit about your life circumstances.Yeah, been through it myself. The biggest problem can often be admitting to yourself that you have a problem, in my experience at least.
He loved Singapore, he was like an unpaid international ambassador for the place, or the food at any rate.Hong Kong,Singapore and Montreal ones were mint as well
It's never ultimately to do with a lass, maybe it's a trigger but there's always something deeperCan't believe he's dead.
