I'm a St Mirren fan who lives in Cleadon and is married to a Mackem. I was going to post a couple of days ago when this all blew up, but your board wouldn't let me.

Anyway, if there's anything that's not been covered already (in relation to Jack Ross) that you'd like to ask, feel free to fire away.

One thing I've been wondering; I've heard the interview about his tactics/ style of play etc and I'm happy that he seems to talk sensibly about that side of things, he's also done quite well in terms of bringing players in to help turn st mirren around.

The other thing the owner mentioned was wanting a manager who would set high standards and not let players take the piss etc. Are there any examples of that in action with Ross? Any players who he has had to deal with in terms of ill discipline? We need him to set the standard and ensure no one falls below that, just wondering if there's any examples of that in practice from St Mirren

Some of Fitzpatrick' thoughts.

“I know Rangers have had a hard time recently but they are back in the league now so I know it will be harder. But apart from Celtic just now, I believe because of Brendan Rodgers, I think when you have a great leader like Jack Ross then everything is possible.

“He has done a better job than Sir Alex in some ways because Sir Alex made sure he kept his young players, whereas we have sold three of ours. We have brought in a lot of money from their sales but they were all first-team players and Jack has still built a team without them.

“For him to do that is an incredible thing. You talk about Leicester winning the Premiership being a miracle but I think where we have come from in the last 18 months is a miracle. There is no other story in Scottish or British football, where you are bottom of the league going to go down, being so many points behind and having to win every game to stay up, to then being champions.”

“I don’t mention Sir Alex lightly but I see the same traits in Jack as a young Alex Ferguson,” the chief executive said.

Fuck me, quick give him a 10 year contract

How often do you see Chris Brookmyre at St Mirren home games?

What style of footy does he play for everyone with pals that are st mirrens die hards??

There are some interviews someone posted on here and on YouTube where he describes his football ‘philosophy’. Seems to break it into thirds and you work so hard to get into the final third that you need to get shots away so need players to be free and attack minded when you up there. So I would expect a direct style.

He totally gutted our rancid squad in the January transfer window in the 16/17 season. 10 out, 10 in, and we broke even in doing so. There were talented players on loan who just weren't performing, and they were sent back to parent clubs. He seemed to manage the expectations of our squad very well this season, too - not much sign of unrest amongst those not playing.

His record on transfers hasn't been 100% (whose is?) but, again, Saints are operating in a very tough market - convincing players to play second-tier football in Scotland can't be easy.

High energy, quick passing, everyone looking for the ball, everyone composed on the ball, everyone positive, that was them at the bottom of the league, SOL will be full and rocking if he does the same here.

Will hopefully be allowed to bring in players to fit that philosophy. Can’t see Cattermole etc being able to adapt to that style of play.
