FFS! Some people on here. Sir Alex Ferguson ~ most people on here will have heard of him ~ after an average playing career, went into management. first at East Stirlingshire, then at St Mirren, then won a European Trophy with Aberdeen, then went to Manchester United....has everybody caught up yet?

Jack Ross had an average playing career, including a spell as chairman of the players' union. After that he was U20s coach at Hearts, where he was expected to succeed Robbie Neilson as manager, except he fell out with Craig Levein. He managed Alloa quite successfully before moving to manage St Mirren, one of the 5 remaining founders of the SFL. His success with St Mirren led to him being awarded the PFA Scottish manager of the year, despite Brenda Rogers completing an unprecedented double treble.

He has an honours degree in Economics, so isn't stupid.

Everybody has to start somewhere. GIVE HIM A CHANCE!

Imho, potentially he could be the best manager we've had in a long long time.

I agree it might be a decent appointment, but I wish people would stop with this Alex Ferguson shite, no relevance at all

We've been there and tried the fancy foreign named managers the tried and tested British managers the managers who are on and off the managerial merry go round.... I’m happy to go down this route if it works great if it doesn’t I’m sure we’ll go back to the mangers in the scrapheap like most clubs

What for?
No idea .. Probably for telling a mag to do one knowing this place:lol:

I hadn’t even heard of Ross until a few days ago but I’m willing to give him a chance.

We’ve tried all sorts of experienced managers with big names in the last few years and achieved nothing of note.

Like Methven said we’re in L1 now and the sooner we realise that the better. Prem or championship level managers aren’t really going to want to come here unless they get big wages and a really big budget. Unless we choose one of the regular failures that is.

Looking at his short career so far JRs done well up in Scotland and has earned his chance at something bigger.

It might go tits up or it might be a success. I don’t know, but I’m certainly more enthusiastic than I was when journeyman Simon Grayson got the gig.

This has happened time after time for too long

Happy that The Don is breaking that cycle with this appointment, let's see if we can sign some players that actually give a fuck to back up the younger players

I’m thrilled another fellow jock has been appointed, even if I am slightly concerned at his lack of experience.

They are playing up the fact he has an economics degree, which seems rather beside the point to me!

Unless he is going to moonlight as commercial director of course....

We've got to give the bloke a chance. When you look at our managers over the last few years, Big Sam apart, we haven't been that successful.

You have to trust the owners, Ross from reading various articles has a big ego which is what is needed at our club for him to start the clearing the shit away, league 1 is turd and I reckon he will do well as not like we have had much success over the last 10 years so let’s see what he can do.
