Filling the stadium...

Where to start with this drivel. You may have noticed we have new owners currently which means anything said last season has to be taken in the context of who was likely to own the club for the near future. I stand by everything I said about playing our own kids and plenty on here came round to that way of thinking after we started playing them when it was too late. You may have noticed we got relegated anyway.

Secondly I’m not “bellyaching” about ticket prices at all. They’re very reasonable and have been for a long time at this club. What I’m SUGGESTING is a proactive move for one season only by the new owners to try and get their stewardship of the club off to the best possible start in front of a full or almost full stadium...(PC closure left in place).

I’ve made no bones about my SC status...I haven’t had one for a while but did have for 30 years. And why exactly is ambition such a dirty word in your narrow view of the world. I’d put it to you that you’re one of those happy to sit watching shite, wearing your uber-fan status like a badge of honour. If you’re not very discerning about what’s served up to you then fair enough...carry on accepting shite.

Hit a nerve there I think. You know I'm right.

Whack this in ya sat nav M11 3FF, guaranteed Investment, entertainment....

My 10 year old's getting all types of shoite in his Surrey school about supporting the blunders from kids who haven't even been to the ground of the shirt they're wearing this week, he's already started to tell them to Fook off....

He just wants to go the game, he doesn't ask if he's going to be "entertained"........he has asked when he's gonna see them Fookin win again though....
Your son has got a potty mouth. Terrible parenting

I find that a bit sad marra. I know you like to score points over me (and vis versa) but it’s a really poorly constructed argument he’s put forward which only vaguely touches on the post I made back in December about playing the kids and also completely misses the point of the current thread. My status as a non-sc holder is hardly a secret so it didn’t need Poirot to work that one out.

By all means have a dig at me but ffs find someone insightful and articulate to back to those ends. Disappointed in you marra.

Edit....ffs he can’t even reply to a post properly
It's the truth. He's got you sussed

Being the best you can be whilst living within your means is ambition. Spending £5m on a striker when in League 1 is f***ing nuts. In general, fans seem to equate spending more money than you have as ambition.

In what respect?

As a life long fan with 30 years home and away support but currently a non-season card holder who likes to come onto a SAFC forum and be critical of a failed regime then offer suggestions for the new regime to get off to a flying start....wow, that’s me well and truly sussed.

Anyway it’s nice to see that you’ve mended your previously “broken” status. Always look forward to seeing your posts on here ;)

It’s not bribery man

Think of it as compensation for sitting through two of the worst years any of us have seen. If any company let’s you down with a faulty product you have every chance of getting a refund or some other compensatory gesture. You know why they do that...because they want you to keep buying their products.

You and I both know it’s been dreadful recently but those of us who have stopped buying season tickets are enthused by new owners and the possibilities....we just need something to make that decision for us. For me it would be showing ambition but a price cut for one year would also help. Call it fair weather supporting if you like but I’ve done the hard yards for 50 years, many of those home and away and as a season ticket holder. I doubt I’d go over and hand £60 over on a match by match basis to watch third tier football though.
Great. Buy a season ticket then.

20k supporters we've had to basically bribe to come in is not conducive to a passionate and patient support like.

I don't want to be near half hearted 'supporters' tbh.

I knew there was something seriously wrong, during the Allardyce period, when I got the  for shouting too loud during the game.

I swear the woman glanced over at the stewards and thought about complaining.

Let’s dissect that assertion of yours then. First of all are we in agreement that we do need one that’s capable of at least 20 goals....I’d say that’s a prerequisite if we’re serious about going straight back up. That leads us to the next part....where and how do we source that striker....do we try to buy a Jack Marriott type BEFORE they’ve proved they can step up...but risky if it fails....or do we look for a striker who knows the league, is getting on a bit but costs nowt. Could do I suppose but then we will probably need to repeat the process next season. My own preferred solution is to find a player who is young, can do it at this level but is potentially capable of stepping up a level....thereby allowing continuity next season if promoted. But that type don’t come on free transfers or for £150k.

Hit a nerve there I think. You know I'm right.

You’re a mere amateur compared to some on here mate....I’ve been insulted by far bigger intellects than you can muster.

Great. Buy a season ticket then.

Moneys there...just waiting for the vibe. Promising so far though.

just because the women doesn't like shouting doesn't mean she is a half hearted supporter.

You've been advocating £5m for a few days now. I think we have 2 in Asoro and Watmore that could bag 20 in this league anyway. Them being fit and still here is a different question like.

There you go then. It’s a crucial season for the club and especially its new owners. Watmore won’t be fit to start the season and when he does come back it’s without the benefit of a pre-season...don’t you think that’s a bit risky. I see Asoro as a wide player in a front three anyway...not as a central striker. Most clubs have three to four strikers and we’ll have the relatively untried Maja, a player returning from a second serious injury and Asoro...don’t you think we need a striker who is our first choice in that position. The same can be argued for GK and CB.

I’ve never said we NEED to spend £5m....just pointed out that last season’s leading scorer in L1 is up for sale at offers above that figure.

You ignored my post showing the price paid for the 5 top goal scorers in League 1 last season by the way. They cost buttons. The amount we spend is largely irrelevant. Signing the right players is the important part.

Didn’t see your post mate....you may have noticed I had rather a lot to reply to

I agree....signing the right players is the important part....but that is merely a soundbite. It was just as important in January, last summer, January 2017 and summer 2016. It’s eadier said than done....all I’ve done is suggest that money shouldn’t be the key determinant in the purchase of players for the key positions.

We have got it wrong for as long as I can remember. We are atrocious at it. We need to sign the right players within our budget. There's no point in getting a clean slate and then continuing to make the same mistakes of the last 10 years.

That's why we all need to totally forget the past and rid ourselves of this rotten attitude.

We have a new manager, with no Sunderland history, a new owner and a new regime that looks as if it really means business.

If we keep harping back to past mistakes and this shitty 'typical Sunderland' diatribe then we may as well give up.

It's time to draw a massive line under the past and move on.

They’ll still have the issue this season of a £30 match day fee for those without a SC.....how many of those do you think we’ll sell to watch third tier football, winning or not.

It sounds to me like you've wrapped in your season card a few years back and now things could be looking up, decks getting cleared etc you fancy jumping back on the bandwagon and getting your season card back but have realised that all the loyal fans who renewed weeks ago will be getting a better deal than you are and you aren't happy about that.

Sorry if I'm mistaken but that's how It comes across.

It seems a lot of bull and bluster for what is essentially a binary decision. What do you fancy doing every other Saturday?

A. Go to the match.
B. Not go to the match.

Everything else is just filler. If I needed persuasion from elsewhere I don't think I'd bother.
