There's a risk in any appointment. Look how many safe pairs of hands have landed us in the clarts.

Absolutely. I was expecting an appointment of someone this age and profile, the only issue, well worry is a better word, is I wanted someone who had managed in this league before, as I do think that is important IMO

How so ?

Even if I don't like a managerial appointment
(Howard Wilkinson springs to mind)
I prefer to give the benefit of the doubt and get behind them from the start.

Like I said, you are entitled to your negative opinions, I like to stay positive, don't wet your knickers over it ;)

It's all talk the talk at the mo and we had the same shite from Coleman when he arrived.....When i see walking the walk, then my view will change. I think the two new blokes are chancers but that's my view and i'll stick with it till i see daylight.

Is that how many games you surrendered the lead in towards the end of last season?

Seriously, look it up.

Why do you bother? Seriously I like a bit of banter and half my family support the Great Unwashed. But your patter is tedious, bores the arse off me recently. I´ve watched north eastern football all my life. I was even there when you won a meaningless certificate. And I´m almost 70 but if you want an honest appraisal we have hit rock bottom but are now resurgent- you lot with those debts and those unrealistic expectations are courting disaster. I´m not a vindictive person , but you know what, I can hardly wait. It´s extending my life expectancy. Bookmark this and then fook off.

I'm not convinced of that myself, I think Sheff Utd who won the league the year before last and Blackburn and Wigan for example would be far superior to anything in that league

Hope you are right,
I absolutely get that, but I think there's a fairly big gap between the top end of league 1 teams and those at the bottom end. You wouldn't really think that, for example, Wigan, Sheffield United etc should be competing against Bury, MK Dons, Accrington Stanley.

All football is "all talk"
Here's a question.
Do you think Coleman wanted us to get relegated ?

But the Scottish Championship sometimes has part time clubs in for example, its a massive massive leap IMO

its encouraging other teams have wanted him, someone is touting him and recommended him, obviously caught Donald's ear

No it's not, there's action too.

Probably not but he didn't help matters by saying one thing (in press conferences), then doing the opposite on match days.

Class

At the risk of getting the thread back on track, I often find when a set of fans seem to have such a firm consensus of opinion on something that it generally isn't far from the truth. That's encouraging given the noises coming from those that know him at St Mirren. As alluded to though, the step up in size of club is pretty drastic. I suspect that dealing with that will be his biggest challenge. Grayson crumbled in a couple of months under the pressure.

Agreed. My perception is that the major difference between the two is pure, base cognitive ability (which is massively underrated in all walks of life). I’ve been heartened by what I’ve read about this fella today - the MA in Economics, the position in Scottish PFA, his tactical awareness and bravery in player decisions, the way he talks with deep seated confidence

In contrast, Grayson was a nice fella who knew a bit about football - but when things got difficult he couldn’t cope as he was, well - a bit thick!

Yeah its a fair point.

Grayson is a good football man though and does pretty well at all clubs he goes to, yet he was so far out of his depth. That is my big worry. You make good points though,
