dose'nt it just mate....Speaks for itself that he wasn't there marra.
One season at a time I say. Very few football clubs have 5 year plans. I'd rather he didn't sit there and promise top 7 of the Premier League.
Probably the same wealth bracket as Burnley's owners. Run a football club as a proper business and you end up not spending your own wealth.
Wonder if the lack of investors ATM is more about getting the approval done early and avoiding complications, or about keeping our powder dry until we NEED more investment so we don't get fleeced for players now.
Selling the AOL back to the council
Wages wise we should be able to in League one? Our turnover will still be bigger than all the other clubs in the division.Aye, I think small budget teams can do well in the championship with momentum and good management (See Millwall this year, Burnely, Swansea or Blackpool before). This is not itself a problem for me and I think even with no money at all we would be fine in League One, however, we will need to get the management decision correct straight away and start building a squad with the right kind of players in it. Momentum and squad togetherness will be key for us to try and move forward.
Also I do wonder if our fans have the patience to adjust expectations accordingly, I suppose we will just have to! It is a bit of a shame/ quite scary we no longer have the cash to just blow teams out the water as its all I have known in my lifetime tbh.
its never been owned by the Cooncil.Actually that crossed my mind too. Curious to know what the cost-benefit would be.
Not sure why anyone would be worried. Debt free, 40mill paid for the club and we will have by far the biggest budget in League 1 next season.
You haven’t got a fuckin clue. The Sunderland fanbase has been damaged badly, generations of fans. Going to league 1 will have a bad effect. Sunderland will never get above 35,000 average again.
This ^ he would buy Fletcher and play cattermole and O'SheaThat would be a bit daft imo, we need a fresh start.
Is there a link to it?
Thought he was deadBecause the £40 million hasn’t been paid yet. It’s due to be paid in instalments. If they can’t pay it then Short gets paid through the parachute payments.
The danger is that if things don’t work out - we don’t get promoted as quickly as they hope or they can’t reduce our wages etc. as planned - then these two may not have the required funds available.
The international consortium which we - and presumably Short - were promised; and which could have mitigated any risk - hasn’t materialised.
You have to wonder; had Short known the international investors would back out, would he have still chosen these two over the local fans consortium with Quincy as vice chairman?
