Wages wise we should be able to in League one? Our turnover will still be bigger than all the other clubs in the division.

Yeah I agree, look at Bolton or Blackburn - despite the owners spending fuck all (Bolton were in administration I believe) the size of the club got them out of the division easily enough. We have to expect to be promoted first time of asking, no fuss. Anything less is a failure imo.

My thoughts instead turn to 1. what happens if we don't go up 2. do we have the "capital" to compete in the championship (Not that money is necessarily the answer of course)

Pretty sure he said we will have the biggest budget in League One and a budget that even most Championship clubs would like. Not sure how anyone can twist at that? How much do I need to spend in League 1 to get out easily? 5mil? If they prove they can run a football club our size well enough, get things right on the pitch and the crowds returning then we are a very investable club.

Wonder if the lack of investors ATM is more about getting the approval done early and avoiding complications, or about keeping our powder dry until we NEED more investment so we don't get fleeced for players now.
Looks like Mr Donald and Mr Methven have good contacts. We need to hit the ground running...other people can come on board as and when we need them. We needed this EFL thing to be done quickly...you van only imagine the delay if everyone involved had to be looked at painstakingly.

Onwards and upwards!

Clearly Charlie is a very articulate and smooth operator and Stewart more the pragmatist businessman. It was made clear that at this point Stewart is the owner and that there are financial commitments going forward to Ellis as he has not taken the 40 million due to the required investment. Hopefully this is the start of a commited and aligned team going forward with the target of rebuilding our famous club.

It is apparent that they have the desire and see this is a real opportunity, however, they will be playing their cards close to their chests and rightfully so.

They made it clear that we will have a budget that should get us competing again. They want us winning games and I hope that they succeed but the proof will be in the pudding. Don’t get carried away lads and lasses, just get behind them and give them our support and fingers crossed they won’t let us down.

Short not taking PP, BUT the £40 million is secure against it. @Grumpy Old Man
Must not have had the 40 million in disposable funds to buy to buy it
They said there are other interested parties who could contribute. It's clear that they didn't or couldn't wait for EFL clearance on them. Any new investors can now get EFL approval on a piecemeal basis. It's very clear that both sides wanted the deal done by the end of the season.
Maybe they just wanted to buy it for themselves, the 40 million in instalments meant they could cut the other investors out and own it lock stock and barrel.

Well I am feeling optimistic for the first time in years.

Hopefully we can now crack on with transfers and pre season and look forward to a solid season.

Particularly if some of their mates arent squeaky clean. Could have held us up all summer...

The entire division spent £4.5m this season.
