I'm sure we had the same revenue as spurs in 2007 and up until that point we had a better pl record as well though.

The game has moved on and your last points are right
In the big picture of the footballing world you're much of a nothing club apart from the big attendances mainly due to being a major city single club you have won nowt and achieved nowt really..
Most football fans don't bat an eyelid at the likes of you or us, it's the top 6 who have millions of fans worldwide especially Asia and the USA clubs like you and us don't.

You lot need to accept it and get this delusion out your heads that's your problem

Exactly gate receipt money is nothing in today's football finance unless your a London club who charge extortionate prices
Haway it’s just a way of shoehorning 52,000 into his post. Attendance money of any club is now a pee in the ocean in terms of the finances of a football club. Bournemouth only has a capcity of just over 11,000. They’ve managed to stay in the Premier League for I think it’s 4 seasons now

We have 52,000 paying customers every home game though. Sunderland had less ticket income than Southampton

No way should we not be able to compete financially with teams getting 30,000 less gates than us
20,000 extra supporters paying an average of 20 quid a ticket is an extra 7.4m in revenue. that would get you another joselu and a bit. its not that much in the scheme of things when all bottom half clubs get similar amounts of income thanks to the tv and prem league money. southampton had the same turnover as you in 2016 124m.

It's only really important in the lower divisions once the parachute payments stop.

"House"

Blackburn were first.

I get what you're saying but if he's trying to 'run the club like a business', why have all revenue streams other than TV fallen under his ownership, why does the club give away advertising for free, and why doesn't the club receive all the money from NUFC merchandise?

He's not trying to run the club like a business, he's running the club like a business that most benefits Mike Ashley Holdings. There is a big difference.
You of course can provide evidence of this.

My thoughts also, I wasn’t sure why he brought Sunderland into as well. Is there another set of fans in the country who obsess about attendances as much?
The only reason they get that amount is geography from berwick down to Newcastle including gateshead Northumberland etc etc most people support Newcastle. If there was another biggish football club in that area it would be different

The mags for some reason think that it's because they are super duper fans when in reality it's down to geography

So losing money is a good thing?

No , but as fans and maybe this is where we differ, i want a bit of hope, ive maintained im no Ashley hater and understand he just doesnt have the money but fuck me he has missed chances of coining it in but instead gambled on surviving and it backfired.Credit to him he has backed managers to get straight back up(also a gamble) .

Im pleased with things and how we are, finance goes over my head, personally i want fun and want the best, sadly its a business now , fans however want fun.

I disagree, if we start becoming shit our fans will leave like yous, ive never played the attendance card, ive always respected any crowd, especially those who make the effort to go away.

Crowds do not make superiority.

And do a Leeds or Portsmouth.
Unfortunately their's the big six then the rest, you just have to accept this and let Ashley keep your club in good financial health. That's the best any of us can hope for.

It is certainly where we differ. I to take a more pragmatic approach than using all-encompassing terms like 'typical mag'. But my overriding perception of the average Newcastle fan is that they're blinded by romanticism and oblivious to how things work behind the scenes.

Unfortunately our lot have become slightly obsessed with boardroom politics. I know I've been more interested on what's going on in the room with mahogany doors than what goes on on the green rectangle. It shouldn't be what it's about at all.

Im thinking maybe 5 years ago we didnt accept it, now the vast majority of us do, the last relegation kicked it in, most of us know now only a miracle season or a zillionaire who wants to play can get us into the top six we once aimed at, we were all pleased at "over acheiving" winning the 10th cup, so yes our stock is not so high and personally i wouldn't mind a few more of these , realistically its the best 14 others can hope for.

Good post. We do differ in our mind set .

But all your fans wanted Staveley who stated that the club was would be run as a business, did they not?

Or does this occasion not count?

No they just want rid of Ashley. It could in truth be anyone, of course we all want a rich owner who wants a play thing as it would be a great ride.Who wouldnt want that man.

Football fans are f***ing mental and love spending others money.

Oh yes.ahmen

Maybe fans that still want football to be a sport?

Football in England is pretty much fucked at the top level and if Newcastle think they can break into something like a regular top 8 finish, I think fans of clubs like them or Everton for example are incredibly naive, as most clubs are just a relegation away from financial meltdown these days.
