European football every other season and no danger of relegation, to one season in Europe and 2 (nearly 3) relegations in the 10 years with Ashley.

Just heard it on radio 90m loss.
So much for Ashleys tightmy run ship.
All down to schteeve presumably
This is what happened last time wasnt it, promised all the profits would go into the side, then there were no profits. To be fair to Ashley he has to date done an excellent job at Newcastle and lets be honest here, despite the loses last season, his gamble paid off massively as they are back in the land of milk and honey.
He gambled, it paid off, they are now raking in over £100 million a year TV money, not sure how this is a failure although both the Mags who hate him and our lot who love to hate them will all see it as such. Anybody with a shred of common sense will see it as a gamble that paid off handsomely.
Stupid boy
I am the only one that doesn’t see making a near £100m loss just to get their hands on a similar amount of TV money as great business? Especially when the squad will need huge investment, I appreciate the PL will bring more money than that but they are now saddled with silly debt that’ll hold them back.
Thanks
£100 million loss is one year, they will be hoping the TV money is year on year I guess and they are already onto year 2 now.
The figures are for the championship season,I reckon 60/80 £million warchest next season and that's Ashley still pocketing a tidy sumThe loss was £15million that Ashley had to put in to balance the books, that's not taking into account that players bought were paid for up front but the players sold are in instalments over 4 years so all in all a great set of results

Na chance, not on Boxing Day. Look at the Boxing Day fixtures for both clubs over the last few years.Or they might be playing Bournemouth while we are plaing Portsmouth?
The sense of entitlement man
What about pre-1997? How did you get on in the preceding 40 or 50 seasons?
Reading between the lines, you don't like Ashley because he isn't hoying about oligarch money.
He has been here for 10 years. So I used the 10 years before as a measure and he has taken us backwards no doubt despite mackems thinking he is some god. If he had the same record as he had at Newcastle in the last 10 years at Sunderland then he would be a hero to you lot. That doesn't mean he has done well for Newcastle.
No we don't want him to chuck silly money about we just want him to stop messing around with transfers all the time and show some ambition to compete with Southampton etc who we get double the crowds of.
When Toby alderweireld was available on loan and then went to Southampton while we were crying out for a good cb but showed zero interest sums it up for me
Why wasn’t rafa interested?
He hasn't taken you backwards, Newcastle are about where they should be. You're completely ignoring the fact that football has moved on since Keegan/Hall etc almost bought the title in the late '90's - the first team to try it in the premier league era. The same regime that abolished the reserves and youth teams setting you back years. It was a hiatus that was unsustainable. He has been here for 10 years. You imply that you expect European football and top 3 finishes every season but you can't compete with Man City or Chelsea, nor do you bring in even close to the revenue streams of Man Utd, Arsenal, Liverpool, Tottenham etc. You don't have their history, their success, their worldwide profile or their crowds. So where does this sense of entitlement come from?
You've completely contradicted yourself about Alderwiereld. Not only are you blaming Ashley for football decisions, you are once again showing that you expect him to throw money about. How do you know you could afford Alderwiereld at the time? How did you know he would be a success? Easy to say in retrospect we should've signed this player or that player, their are 19 other premier league clubs to compete against for every signing.
Ashley is a gelatinous buffoon and a PR nightmare, but all he's guilty of is trying to run the club like a business.
And you don't like it.
