It's impressive how Benitez (who took them down and then waited for and got no offers before committing) has got himself into a position where he can essentially hold the owner to ransom.

Surprising.
His football is dull as fuck.

WHU fans won't accept that for long.

Dull as fuck  His teams, where he's had the attacking talent, have been free-scoring. His compact style and pragmatic approach shouldn't be confused with someone like Allardyce who only plays one way irrespective of the players available to him.

Desperation on the part of the support mate.

and hopefully allowed to use the extra 9,000 seats already in place by the end of the coming season

They might as well all be watching on a stream mate, they're that far from the pitch

Catts4Life :lol::lol::lol::lol:

Allardyce who played a front three of Defoe, Borini and Khazri and two full backs who are basically wingers... Hardly a long ball in sight.

Ashley's already said that won't be happening.

Correct.

Pep will never win another one. Easy this.

Post the quotes matey

On his future:

"I still have one year left on my contract, so it is different. Now we have to make sure that we do the right things and are on the same page.

"The fans have ambitions and we have ambitions, and we have to know if everybody has the same feelings too. The potential is there.

"It is easy to see what we have, now we need to do something more and be a little bit better.

"It is clear what we need.

"We have a couple of players on loan who are leaving and a couple of players who have finished their contract too. You need to sign players to be sure you have a good squad with competition.

This year's Mike Ashley statement (he wasn't at the game, reportedly holidaying in Barbados):

"I would like to thank Rafa Benitez for his magnificent achievement this season.

"I would also like to applaud the players, led fantastically by the captain Jamaal Lascelles.
"On many occasions throughout the season they have been described as a Championship side, which I personally consider to be derogatory.

"Rafa, as always, has my full support, and contrary to some media reports that portray me as a pantomime villain, I will continue to ensure that every penny generated by the club is available to him.

"I hope very much that Rafa will remain at Newcastle United.

"Finally, I would like to thank the fans for their unrivalled support of Rafa and the team throughout the season."

That's why he'll not move he will be accountable again and hasn't had that pressure for a while

He should have been dragged into a meeting and asked why he only won the championship and only finished 10th this season. Hold him to account, mags!

Correct.

So where's the but where Ashley says he won't get the control he wants?

Didn't Sunderland play a greater % of long balls, and a smaller % of short balls than pretty much all of the league?

I think they'll reach an agreement. Benitez won't get everything he wants, Ashley will have to commit to more than he wants.

Yep. He knows if he doesn't there'll be absolute mayhem again, consisting of a couple of bedsheets in the stands and being told he's fat, a Cockney, and to get out of your clerb.

No.

they did under Allardyce

tho tobe fair it should be pointed out when I saw them it was long balls on the floor behind the defence for Defoe

I don't actually think it's as hard to fill your stadium in the capital though.[/oQUOTE]
prbably not!

 Even Ashley knows that gambling that another manager is good enough to keep this squad in the top flight is folly.

Well, I mean, they irrefutably did, so...
