Nah, he's using it to try to force Ashleys hand into giving him more money.

People keep saying this but the story has come from West Ham.

Ashley has made his position clear regarding money, he wasn't bothered in the last window and wouldn't be in this one.

"Reports in Portugal claimed on Wednesday that Fonseca is ready to reject West Ham's advances. "

"Sensing they might be able to get Benitez from Newcastle as relations appear to be difficult between him and owner Mike Ashley over spending, West Ham now look certain to try again. "

Where do you think they got it from ? Benitez is well known for leaking stuff to get his own way.

Yes I know that mate but this just doesn't look that way to me, too much of a conspiracy theory.

West Ham have enough on their plate without becoming involved in mind games like this and wouldn't take kindly to having their name used by Benitez.

Ashley wouldn't be suckered by shit tactics like that in any case, they didn't work last time.

I'd say this definitely has some foundation in fact.

Apart from the pull of London he would be daft to go there like, Newcastle are a bigger and better club than West Ham will ever be, and arguably have a worse set of owners than Ashley.
This.

They may of course "step aside" though

I wouldn't be shocked if he went there.
I can't see Ashley backing him so I'm expecting him to go this summer, he wants to stay in this country, all the top jobs are closed, seems as good a place as any.

Give owa. Twelve point leads lost, two relegations in the last few years (one from an own goal, the other by their rivals) and despite spending boat loads over the years absolutely nowt to show for it

Just because we have royally fucked up doesn't mean they're lucky. They're not. They're f***ing shite.
They’ve bounced back first time. Twice. Their ONLY two years outside of the premier league. Their owner bankrolled them to the tune of £60m+ to get back into the premier league, despite being universally hated by the fans. They’ve had champions league football, European football, a 5th and 10th place recent finishes in the premier league. They convinced a champions league winning, ex Liverpool, Chelsea and Real Madrid manager to come to them and stay with them for a championship season. They are the north east media darlings. They’ve had many more notable players play for them. They've had loads of recent good results against the top 6 sides... just to name a few things.

I’d take a season of champions league football, or European football, or a 5th place finish, or a champions league winning manager take charge of us. Just because they’ve never won a trophy doesn’t mean they’re not jammy. Any shit they fall into they’re straight back out of, within a single season.

The Mags have been all over the board today ..... I bet this makes them scuttle away and keep quiet.

It'll take them a fair while to come up with a response

:oops: I would be f***ing embarrassed to be associated with shit like that. 'Soul' ffs it's like a child's fairytale. Is this the kind of guff our resident mags lap up

I think if West Ham were more stable themselves then it might be possible, but they are not so I can't see it.

Said it before if he moves he will have to prove himself and would be judged by results again. Why would he give himself that pressure when he can get well paid for achieving fuck all at Newcastle and still be adored
