What position would you put him?
It is difficult to say where I would put him but batting at 10 restricts his opportunities to develop as a batsman he needs the chance to learn how to develop a long innings if he is to reach his full potential. On that basis I would look to have him in at 8 for now and then see how he develops.because he's barely played? he was bigged up as an al rounder when he came into the team as i recall but he's a bairn just coming into the side so you bring him in low and get him used to county cricket IMO

Agree with a lot of that. I too for the record would have him at 8 - but in fairness he's unlikely at 8 to have much more of an opportunity to bat for long periods. See the debate on where Bairstow should bat for England regarding the vagaries of batting so low.
Perhaps if he does continue to perform well and his technique is good though, why not throw him in at 3 or 4 or something like we did with Borthwick?
Something to consider in the long term definitely. Obviously we'd all love it if he had the same talent with the bat and the same success as a Scott Borthwick.
bit of a difference there as badge ued to bat at the top of the order as a bairn, i've no idea if potts has ever done similar. our top order looks pretty well set am [when was the last time anyone thought that?] so i'm fairly happy for him to start low and work his way up, as weighell has done. if either of them can step into the middle order successfully that would be massive for us
Potts opened the batting throughout the county age groups, also opened for Washington 1sts when he was 15.
Remember Borthwick was getting good scores down the order before he was promoted up. Kinda like he earned his promotion before it was given.Agree with a lot of that. He also hit a ton as a 15 year old for Washington in the NEPLPotts opened the batting throughout the county age groups, also opened for Washington 1sts when he was 15.
The season is still ahead of us. The Champo, One-day and T20, there'll be opportunities and if there aren't it will mean he's injured or the first choice 8 are doing fantastically well. I doubt that last will happen like.I'd like to see him promoted like, but guess won't happen after Rico's ton
For me its a balance, I understand the need to get experienced pros in the side, but its also a good time to develop the next lot.
