He is probably going o lose millions from owning us, and he hasn't asset stripped anything. So other than the key points your post is accurate.
 
Tin hat on. I'm starting to think sticking with Short and him with us for another 12 months is our best option. However it would take shifting the high earners, modest investment from him and hopefully gaining promotion. I just think our current situation means the club would literally be changing hands and we would be no further forward.

I just don't think whoever comes in will be able to invest massively in the playing squad. We could be in better shape in 12 months and back in the championship with just modest investment from Short.

Getting rid of Short will be a huge step forward. Another season of madness management will likely finish us altogether.

We'll get nothing from Short investment wise he is just interested anymore and wants out. What we need more than anything at the moment is for someone to take us over who has a plan for us over the long term hopefully with the target of producing more of our own players.
 
Hopefully these last few seasons will be held as a template historically so we never make same mistakes again.

That is of course if speculation does come off and a rescue package gets us on an halfway even keel. This is a time we need all hands to the pumps to stop us sinking.

It is in lap of the money gods at the moment. Knowledgeable owner required and not a chancer.

Not sure this is a pre requisite, what is however is an owner who understands their lack of knowledge of the game and appoints the people who will spend his money wisely....Appointing a DOF with absolutely no experience of the the Premiership was beyond negligent, it was an utter embarrassing mistake.

You're both probably right. It just has bit of out of the frying pan into the fire feel about things. It has to be the right people, not just the first person who can pay Short what he wants back. Having less debt in 12 months will probably garner more interest. Only time will tell I suppose.

That,s because money men without knowledge try to run the club solely as a business.

Cannot be done too many conflicting areas where flows are forever changing. You need a finger on the pulse so you do not drop the ball.

An owner with just basic football knowledge, as well as being a good business man can make a bloody good difference to our chances of sucess.

We might be in the minority but I agree with you. Some seem to think that some well meaning local businessmen with limited funds would be a better option. For me they'd be a huge risk, especially if they haven't ran a football club before. If they don't get everything right and stop the losses we could be in even more trouble.

The way I see it we shouldn't need to spend anything to at least compete in league one. We'll keep some decent academy players, loads of decent league one players will move on free transfers. The main thing is having an idea of what kind of players we want (powerful ones for a start, we're weak as piss this season), hopefully Coleman will have that idea already.

If we keep Short, keep things tight financially, we should still be able to compete at that level and shouldn't be at risk of going down again. By the end of the season hopefully the debt will be paid down a fair bit and restructured. At that point, whether in league one or the Championship, we'd be a much better bet for people who might actually have a bit too invest in the playing side (not expecting rich Arab men or anything, but people with something to spend will be needed if we aim to get back to the prem). For me that's a better option than selling now to people who might struggle to meet the asking price!
