I was once spat at from a car on the High Pit Road in Cramlington because my Sunderland shirt was on display. I was on my way to our lass’ house at the time and I knew I was going to get shagged, so I wasn’t overly bothered.

I've never understood the dislike for Durham mags. Are Gateshead Mackems equally as bad or are we allowed to reside anywhere in the region?
So why don't Durham mags support Gateshead? Closer to home than Sunderland surely?
why don't Gateshead Mackems support Newcastle?
What is a Gateshead mackem?
why don't Gateshead Mackems support Newcastle?
a Sunderland fan living in Gateshead?
When we lived in Wardley (part of Gateshead) I never classed myself or my 2 sons as Gateshead Mackems, is that what you are referring to as a 'Gateshead mackem'?
I just can't get my head around why a Newcastle fan living in Durham is a backward turncoat scumbag who should be supporting Sunderland but a Sunderland fan living in Gateshead is totally acceptable and not backward at all. I don't get it.
To me it depends if you’ve picked your club or whether you’ve been born into it. I shouldn’t have said I hate Durham mags because many are genuine, but there are also numerous who ‘picked’ Newcastle in the 90s and early 2000s owing to their success. I can’t imagine many have ‘picked’ Sunderland due to whatever success we may have or definitely have not had.I just can't get my head around why a Newcastle fan living in Durham is a backward turncoat scumbag who should be supporting Sunderland but a Sunderland fan living in Gateshead is totally acceptable and not backward at all. Is Sunderland not the local club for those from Durham (wear side)? If it is why would you choose to support a team further away and with no link to your vicinity?
Because this is a Sunderland forum!
My brother is a Washington mag. Albeit he is a season ticket holder, went to his first game in 1982 and was actually born in Newcastle. As was I, albeit my dad’s influence obviously worked more on me!
I know of a few people in Weardale who have the river wear flowing through their land yet ‘support’ Newcastle. It’s just rancid as fuck.
how many people "choose" their team? You're presuming that Durham mags were born & bred in Durham with no link to Newcastle.
Which happened to coincide with 1992?

anyone that has picked Newcastle because of their relative success whilst living in/close to Sunderland is a turncoat. Where does Durham come into it and why are Durham mags considered the worst of the worst?
My cousins from Durham "chose" to support the mags with absolutely no family links to Newcastle (and lots to Sunderland), albeit they were highly impressionable kids in the 90s. I'm sure they weren't the only ones back then.how many people "choose" their team? You're presuming that Durham mags were born & bred in Durham with no link to Newcastle.

Ok, I've seen you posting on here a lot and a fair amount about Rangers, so are you new to the area?
