Scumbag Short Slagging the fans

So listening to that, the win over Derby set the buy out back a bit as it gave us a glimmer of staying up and would affect the finances of the deal adversely. You couldn’t make it up like.
It’s got to the point where it’s like we are in a saw movie. We go down and get rid of short or stay up and he stays. That’s the choice!

For those who haven’t listened to it (WiFi is flaky here) what’s Preece saying please
Such a mess behind the scenes
Have been people willing to come in but they've been pu off very early by the owner. He hasn't sold the club at all when he's went into these meetings he's
Slagged the fans slagged the fanbase slagged the manager in charge slagged the players slagged the infrastructure of the club when he's been there long enough to be responsible for all of that

So in short (no pun intended) it's everyone's fault but his.

You could and David Preece did. He doesn't know anything that hasn't already been printed in the papers. I was surprised at how thick he sounded. I couldn't imagine Henry Winter using the phrase "slagged off"

I doubt he's just made it up.
Maybe the person who told him that was wrong but I doubt he's just invented it himself that would be bizarre imo

from a fan who still goes to games, when 20,000 have dipped, wondering why the same twenty thou’ aint got the same backbone as me, it is shite and embarrassing !
f***ing sixty thousand all clamming for Wembley tickets moaning about no ‘phase two’.. well where the FUCK are they now the f***ing pricks?
One mans loyalty is another mans stupidity...

Without sounding like I'm sticking up for sorry as I'm not, but who is this bloke claiming to know all this info? Sounds like a load of shit to be

Another talentless parasite trying to make a living off the back of the club.

The Derby result holding things up? Of course he made it up  Just to appear that he has a bit of insight himself.

Our brief hope was damaged 18 hours later when Birmingham won and virtually extinguished by Monday. And it was a Bank Holiday weekend. So I doubt anything was held up at all.

I never mentioned that bit if you look at what I wrote.
I agree its all speculation though and the stuff about the Derby win sounds daft

You're comparing the prose of a public school boy and journalist of over 30 years to a Southmoor lad who's spent the best part of his career in dressing rooms and football pitches. Ha'way man.

Okay mate, I thought you meant the Derby win delaying things as that's what my comment was mainly aimed at.

Have you been living in a hole marra? 90% of journalism is people making shite up these days. Throw enough mud and some will eventually stick and then all of a sudden people think every word is gospel, ignoring the vast majority of shite that turns out to be bollocks or can't ever be proved either way,

I don't get to many games now, with being 3000km away. But I totally understand a mate of mine who started going to matches at the same time I did thirty years ago... He couldn't justify spending 80-120 squids on watching us get turned over by everyteam in the top 2 divisions. Fair play to the people who still go, but the £1000 I've saved this season on not being able to go looks a lot better in my savings account than paying off Ellis

I'm not one to criticise anyone who doesn't go any more, god knows it's been boring and shit watching us lose most weeks and this now looks like 2 relegations without even having a "battle" worthy of the name, plus obviously you more than qualify as an exile now!

That being said it always grates when I see people who aren't going say "it's better in my account than paying off Ellis". I've seen that a few times. The money that I, and others who still go, continue to spend is not going to Ellis in any shape or form. He's currently getting nothing out of SAFC, he's putting money in to cover our losses and, when he eventually sells, he might not even get back the money he has loaned the club.

What we continue to pay is, instead, going a tiny way towards helping to address the external loan which must be paid or refinanced by the end of next season and which, if it isn't dealt with properly, could spell the end of our club. We aren't funding Ellis Short's lavish existence, we're helping to fund the continuation of a club that is a hell of a lot more than the current incompetent "custodians".

Not defending Short at all - if he’s said that then fuck him - but how can the local journo claim to know what’s been said in presumably private meetings but he doesn’t have the first clue about how much debt the club is in when the figure is in the public annual accounts, local and national newspapers?

That bit just didn’t make sense to me.

I would have thought if the journalist was lying he'd have a libel case on his hands as He's named short Directly...

It wouldn't surprise me if short had said what he said as I think his ego is bigger than the club..plus it still makes me laugh that some people on here still think short really cares what the average fan in the street thinks or feels

It wouldn't surprise me in terms of his ego, I'm quite sure he doesn't give a single fuck about the fans. As a businessman it would really surprise me though. He's not a stupid man. He's spending a fortune propping up a business he doesn't want any more. His best option is to sell it and the more the can sell it for, the more of his own money he can get back.

With that in mind I'd think it's pretty obvious that your best tactic is to accentuate the positives to potential buyers. Admit mistakes by key personnel but assure that money can be made by buying SAFC. Saying "hi, I hear you want to buy Sunderland, well let me tell you, the people at the club are shit, the fans are shit and the infrastructure is shit" probably isn't the best way to go about doing it!
