That's a fine logic but only if you're prepared to accept that losing your better players doesnt weaken your team. Such as Pickford or Defoe. If you have to replace these with cheaper modes it's difficult to improve.
The Mags net spending restrictions were of course far less severe than ours but to improve the team considerably while turning a profit is no mean achievement.
Was Sissoko one of their better players? As far as I can remember, they couldn't wait to get rid of him, same with Wijnaldum.
Benitez didn't turn the profit, it'll have been Charnley, where are his plaudits?
