Fancy comparing cars with footballers.Football transfers don't work like that though. You could sell a player for a huge sum and get a cheaper replacement who turns out to be better.

It's not contradictory at all. He chooses the players within his budget so, whatever they cost isn' really his problem. He still brought that amount of players to the club.
What I'm saying is, your lot go in like he has a squad of Championship players at his disposal whereas who in the Championship is able to bring in that calibre of player?
It's not contradictory at all. He chooses the players within his budget restraints given so, whatever they cost individually isn't really his problem. He still brought that amount of players to the club.
What I'm saying is, your lot go on like he has a squad of Championship players at his disposal whereas who in the Championship is able to bring in that calibre of player?
This is where the net spend argument falls down, you can improve your squad and still have money in the bank. But its a risk and you are gambling on the hope they are good. You are of course right.
I'm sure our squad was labelled as such by some Sunderland fans on here at the beginning of the season when we were widely tipped to be relegated.
Done a cracking job
Don’t mind him tbh - he was good to stay at Newcastle when they went down - I’m sure he could have had alternatives
Wolves signed Neves like.

It is like, you're saying he's spent £80m and when net spend is mentioned you say CEOs sell the players, surely they buy them too?

It probably was but, the fact remains, his ability to spend kn players over the past 2 years is akin with most Premier League clubs outside of the big 4.
Mainly by the Orks, Bong Eye and the Fat Fooka who were bleating on about Championship players, Fat Cockneys a Koont....Blah de Fookin Blah
Page 10 of this very thread has people saying its a championship squad.
That's a fine logic but only if you're prepared to accept that losing your better players doesnt weaken your team. Such as Pickford or Defoe. If you have to replace these with cheaper modes it's difficult to improve.Whats their sales got to do with it? Even if they had made £300m it still wouldn't change the fact he has spent £100m.
15th out of 20 for expenditure.
How many clubs do. Also depends on you having a good scouting system. We sold Sissoko for 30m and Wijnaldum for 20 odd. Who in our squad that we bought do you think would command such a fee now?
The fee you got for Sissoko was ridiculous, he wasn't worth anywhere near that. Spurs were took in by his few good games in the Euro's, he was pretty shit for you lot.
He’s done a great job, but we do understand net profit. It still baffles me how you lot dont understand 'Net profit'. If i had a car that I then sold for 20k and I bought a new car for 5k I have a shitter car. Yes I may also have 15k but what good is that if I never use it? Rafa has done well with the squad he has.
Also he isnt above criticism and I have previously.
Have they though? The squad which went down massively underachieved (shit manager). That's a fine logic but only if you're prepared to accept that losing your better players doesnt weaken your team. Such as Pickford or Defoe. If you have to replace these with cheaper modes it's difficult to improve.
The Mags net spending restrictions were of course far less severe than ours but to improve the team considerably while turning a profit is no mean achievement.
