Cheating Aussie B******s

I know thats a common view, but for me you nick it you walk off. Umpire or no umpire. I look after a couple of junior teams and they are clearly influenced by top level players. Seeing an Under 13 player nick one and not walk breaks my heart, and its all down to them seeing it happen on TV.

I agree with you. I'm proud to play for a team where everyone plays within the spirit of the game - we aren't great - we try our best to be competitive but ultimately play for enjoyment of the game and the odd 'day in the sun' when we win a cup or promotion. What we do regularly win is our local association's 'Fair Play' award at the end of the season. We always walk when we nick it (some even walk for LBW!) - being recognised by your peers for your sportsmanship is a great honour. I once walked when I gloved one down leg side - only myself and their keeper knew - but I know I did the right thing (and he bought me a pint afterwards as a thank you). It can totally ruin your weekend when you're fielding and you know (and they know) someone is out but they refuse to go - we're there for fun, not money.

Amongst all the tears he still asserts that they have never done it before,if any one believes that they are as thick as he is .
A few tears and suddenly it's poor Steve , not for me I'm afraid ,he is a bare faced liar, who was too weak to control a player ,he had no problem with ,when they were winning.

Bang on, crocodile tears for me. He's only distraught because they've been caught. Like shite they've not done this before.

I keep on harking back to the Pakistani spot fixing saga, just because I see it as similar in recent memory. Asif bowled his no balls like a pro, millimeters over. Amir bowled his like he hadn't done it before, a good foot and half over. Same here, when Warner was on ball shining duties, he was a pro not to get caught. Bancroft takes over and suddenly they're caught.

In both situations, the senior pros should take most of the blame.

Refreshing to hear mate. Even those there for the money, I think get far more respect if they play hard, but fair. Gilchrist gained so much respect when he became the first Aussie to just walk off when he nicked one. A common argument is that the umpire is there to make the decision. Surely the same can be said of diving in football. The ref is there to tell me its not a pen. I dont think people would think the same in that scenario.

I wont lie and say everyone at our club walks when they nick it. Some dont. I dont agree but I guess its their choice. What we do do though is tell our junior players they must play honestly at all times, and if they nick one walk off. If a kid doesnt do it he is reminded of what we expect, and do it again (nobody ever has) he would miss a game, no matter who he is. Granted we are careful to make sure it is only when we are 100% certain they are taking the mick but it seems to work. It would just help further if those they look up to did the same.

and we're not sure if they're telling the whole truth yet!

the wife mentioned the ashes the other day and made reference to the wicket that got vince after about 30 overs.................. you look at how Anderson struggled to get swing, then the Aussie team do this after 30 overs...........

100% more to it, and how Lehmann has got away with it, I'll never know.

edit - as I type this, Lehmann has quit :):)

That ball obviously hit a crack in the pitch though
