I havent but I watched my step dad play against john terry, ashley cole and joe cole. There was probly more big names on the pitch but I can't remember. It was finland u23's v england u23's at yorks old ground. They gave us all free tickets at school but the finnish were unwell or something so they got york reserves to play against the england team in the end.Cracking game, finished 4-2 to england.

I remember playing at Uni and there was a bloke on the other team who played 8 games for Burnley before getting released. This was when Burnley were one of the weakest teams in the Fourth Division. I thought he couldn't be very good. Jesus, he was light years ahead of anyone else on the pitch.

Still makes me laugh when people look at professionals now and say 'I could do better than that'.

Played against Paul Scholwa once in a competition over in NW at u14s

Obviously didn’t know who he was then but read his biography and he mention playing for Boudary Park in Oldham.

They beat us 2-1 he was absolute class and bosses the whole game

Bollocks. Mickey never played Russel Foster league as he was already committed to Sunderland and they wouldn’t let him
Not sure that applied back then. I played with and against loads of lads, in the Russel Foster, who were with clubs. The standard of the Russel Foster back then was very, very high.

At the same time though when you look at some players who make it you have to think how others didn't.

Another one for joe Allon ( ex mag), he played for donwell juniors and I was made center half for st Joseph’s for the day as regular lad was off.
Joe scored six and I plied my trade further up the pitch after that.

Just to throw my hat in the ring, I played against Steve Munro (Scotland and British Lions) and numerous other Internationals. Yes, I know it's the wrong sport .
