RIP @maximus

Although I am far from popular on this board, Maximus was one of the few on here that I was able to exchange posts with on a sensible level. There was a clear mutual respect between us as supporters of our respective teams. and I was fortunate to be able to exchange posts with him as recently as last week.

However, in terms of supporting my team, I wasn't in Maximus's league. Sunderland away on a Tuesday night (when we're doing well) is about my limit. I couldn't ever imagine me doing a Sunderland to Cardiff type trip for a midday kick off that is live on Sky in a position similar to Sunderland's.

I am in total shock at this news, even more so given that he was posting on here as usual only a few days ago. I can only echo the comments made by others on this thread and my thoughts go out to the friends and family of such a top bloke.

For me, this forum will never quite be the same and I'm sure that will go for many who post on here as well.

Sunderland have lost a top, top supporter here and if ever we needed reminding that some things are more important than football then this terrible news is it.

Not many more dedicated followers of the lads or contributors to this board, will be missed, RIP @Maximus, another good friend I never met

Absolutely this. It's weird but, with trying to get the latest SAFC news and a bit crack when bored at home, along with trying to pass the time at work, I end up spending ages on here. Almost feels like I know some of the crazy, random posters on here and I know there's loads I'd get on well with in real life, maximus was one of those and he really will be massively missed. Hope his family are coping, my thoughts are with them and his friends, all those who were lucky enough to know him

Really canny post mate, if you're up here on Tuesday I hope you enjoy the trip and try a few Sunderland boozers

Just looked at me last PM from him, just before the Boro game, he ended it, “we will have a catch up later if that’s okay”
We won’t have that catch up now
I've been doing that today, looking for his last message, reading old conversation we had on here ect. I text him last night and again this morning to ask if he was ok after not making the match yesterday. Obviously the reply never came. I must have read that text about 50 times today for some reason.
