I did it 12 months ago. I despise SKY.

And hence the argument that little can change and why the Rodwell ilk and his splurge of corporate greedsters are running amok because people are generally a little too comfortable and apathetic.

I work hard for my money..rarely have a drink..don't smoke..my little pleasure is football..i love it and always have..Sky provide me with that pleasure for £5 a week..and on the Rodwell subject..he wasn't forced here you know..we went out negotiated a fee for him he signed a contract and we pay him..happens in football all the time..sometimes it works out sometimes it doesn't..he doesn't want to be here but he's not refusing to play..he played for the U-23's last night..i hate his attitude but money wise we wanted him and we've got him.

Same here. Work damn hard and have very few vices. However, I can see a destructive corporate juggernaut a mile off and, personally, have a major issue with propping up something ugly. I love football. SKY doesn’t support football. It’s supports the commoditisation of sport. As for Rodwell, I’m out of breath. I’ve laid my argument out clear that I think he’s morally bankrupt but somehow cannot cut through this strange swell of protectionism that people give to hero worshiped footballers. It stinks. There was outrage on here a few days back because of David Milibands £75K per year non executive pay. That’s 16 minutes worth of Rodwells onfield contribution.

The hole SAFC are in is one caused by the sheer greed of the top 6. We need to hit back at the whole rotten setup.

One way to do it, pretty simply, is to cancel your Sky and BT subscriptions, get your friends, and family to do the same and spread the word on social media. We just need a hashtag to get the ball rolling...

Why are we blaming Sky for our plight?

We are in this hole due to mismanagement, simple.

I don't have Sky, but when bt call centre opens I will cancel my free bt sports to show my support

You do realise that 35% (£1bn a year) of the PL income comes from overseas TV rights too and this figure is the one that’s increasing every times there’s a new deal. It’ll eventually contribute more than the domestic TV deal (currently £1.8bn a year). Then we will see the fun and games of games being moved around even more at the will of the foreign TV companies. Mind at least the foreign TV prize money is distributed equally throughout the league.

Sky gets 100,000 new subscribers every month. 50,000 angry mackems cancelling their Sky will achieve fuckall.

There's plenty other clubs and fans feeling the pain. It just needs supporters of 3 or 4 clubs to act together and to make some noise about it for investors to take notice. Sky get 25,000 new subscribers per month and that's not for Sports. From what I can see they don't publish figures for cancellations since their total numbers are static, I would guess there must be around 25,000 cancellations per month. Numbers for Sports are falling and losing any will concern them.

We're in this hole because we're owned by a Texan billionaire that knows fuck all about football or Sunderland and doesn't give a shit.

He bought the club because of the TV money.

Nah - one of my great pleasures is watching the footy live at home when I feel like it

Yeah, it has fuck all to do with Sky.

Sky pumping money into English football isn’t the problem. The lack of regulation and fair distribution from the FA is the problem.

Imagine if when the last sky deal was agreed the FA said that the money would be given to the clubs as it had been but that ticket prices must be capped at £10 for a normal seat, £20 for a premium one, and £5 for a concession. Hospitality could be sold at the usual prices but no more than 10% of the attendance could come from hospitality.

You’d likely have full stadia throughout the league.

Instead all the money went on inflating already ridiculous player prices/wages/agent fees, the ticket prices remained as ludicrous as ever and the stadia remained as empty as ever.

It’s a real shame but all the extra sky money has done since the premier league was formed imho it take the game away from the affordability of the working classes.

The last TV deal (or it might have even been the one before last) gave PL clubs such an increase in payments that they could have let everyone in for nothing and still made more money.

As you say the money is all going to the wrong places. I’d like to see it invested in grass roots for facilities for kids clubs, amateur teams and those struggling further down the pyramid.

The entire game needs some balls and authority by the Fa, UEFA and FIFA, sadly all three have none. Money coming in should be spread evenly, less games on Tele, cheaper tickets, chanpileage prize money reduced massively and money spread around instead.

It's actually relatively simple but they are so scared of the the big clubs leaving. Call their bluff, let them leave on condition they can't come back.

I don’t blame Sky for our plight, but gave it up 2 yrs ago ( took ages, don’t make it easy do they?)

I just hate the PL, SKY, sycophantic journos etc all greasing each other’s arses & putting it on a pedestal - all for their own gain.
I’m now thinking of stopping listening to “ more PL games than anywhere else” 5 Live. They used to cover all football.
