Depends where, Acton is canny size. The old South Acton estate was bad but it's been cleaned up a lot. Acton town is a bit of a shithole, gangs of Somalians outside the Morrisons on a night. North Acton is mostly students and East Acton is alright.

Just googled it it seems to be West Acton

Acton went downhill rapidly once they shut the redback tavern

Not true mate, if they have taken the statement it will have been crimed during the initial phonecall.

If you think there is an agenda within the police not to record crime you are way off the mark. As if a call handler or your average cop actively doesn't record crime.

Wrong mux, police don't crime anything they can't solve, plays havoc with the detection rates, it's true, it was in the sun once

About 11.30 in that London. Walking back from the tube he was followed and surrounded by 5 kids. One of them flashed a knife and demanded his wallet (as usual it was fairly empty) and then threatened him if he didn't give them the pin number for his bank card, saying they'd hold him until one of them had used it, and woe betide him if he gave a false PIN. As they were holding him loads of cars passed and a few pedestrians looked away (this happened by a major road) until a couple stopped and my lad asked them to call the police. This spooked the gang and they cleared off. All this happened 5 minutes walk from our house where we've lived 20-odd years.

They managed to withdraw the £200 limit from his account (don't know his chances of the bank writing that off - he cancelled the card as soon as he got home) and he's lost his driving license, work ID card, etc. They didn't want his phone cos "it wasn't good enough". :D

The police have gone to the trouble of taking a statement over the phone and said there's not much more they'll do. When pressed, they said they'll think about looking at CCTV but no promises.

My general feeling is, thank god he's safe but what a shitty society we live in.
I hope your boy isn't too shook up. I've worked all over the country and the only place I didn't feel comfortable was at Kingsland Road near Dalston Junction. I don't know if that is anywhere near.

But what crime will it fall under ? Will not be knife crime, that's my point.

I'm certain it'll be recorded in some way. But the statistics are no way a true representation. But the government aren't doing anything so it's just going to get even worse.

It will be classified correctly as a robbery, if you want to know the definition of it look it up, section 8 theft act. It will also be flagged as knife enabled which goes towards stats, there is no such thing as knife crime per se, it is a sub category, only offence which is truely knife crime would be possession of a bladed or sharply pointed article or possibly possession of an offensive weapon.

I agree with you mate. It's too clouded meaning it's getting brushed under the carpet. And as you said true knife crime is possession of a bladed article therefore technically it is both robbery and knife crime.
