I don’t think so. He made out he was a lifelong Mag and said it would be difficult to come back to the SOL but that was all IIRC. The club put out a pretty scathing press release about the way he conducted his contract negotiations though.

Did he?

Colback can't get in his team and is on a hefty wage, exactly what we've been littered with for years and we should just help them out because Colback is better than Honeyman?? Fuck no...Colbacks are dime a dozen and if we can't find better than we are truly fucked. You think moral is low now, wait till we bring that shitbag back and our results stay the same...happy days.
He can’t get into a premier league team, the boro lads can’t get into one that’s struggling to make playoffs in championship.
I’m not saying colback is going to turn around our fortunes but he’d help purely because he’s better then what we have. As for wages there’s no way he’d be getting what he’s on at Newcastle so that would probably make real tricky anyway.

Is he better than Gibson McNair ndong Williams

"To come to the team I supported as a boy, my hometown team, will be really special for me," said Colback.

He added: "If you asked fans around the world the one thing they'd like to do before they die, it would be to play for the team they support and I've got the chance to do that.

What is the obsession with bringing average players back to the club? There are hundreds of players out there, we pay scouts to identify players in lower leagues, abroad and keep tabs on players that might become available from academies from Premier League Clubs yet people on here keep dragging up players that achieved absolutely nothing with us.

As for players that have publicly burnt bridges with us after joining a bitter rival? Why, how would that work? Makes no sense whatsoever.
To be honest average would be f***ing amazing right now, if he hadn't gone on like a dick when leaving then I'd have him back

Aye that's what I remember too. Never really got the hatred for him. He left to go to his home town club.

He was promised a new deal as well
Too late once into last year as both himself and clubs know he on a free after that. Club get a lad who was prob worth about £5m at time for free and the player gets a better wage as no transfer fee to be paid. Piss poor from club and only themselves to blame.

Colbacks boats sailed, but i still think he is better than some of our current midfield.
If he had just left said nowt, he could probably have comeback.

I'll agree to disagree...I think Colback is just a stop gap and not building for the future. I don't think SAFC can avoid building a squad long term anymore..or signing players that have sale value.
