Jack Colback - Millwall 2004

In an ideal world, he'd be nowhere near us.

It's not an ideal world though, we're staring at a possible second relegation.
He's not and wont be getting playing time at Sid James's and the waiter wants shot of him.
He's a better full back and midfielder than virtually everyone we currently have.

Wages though will be the decider.

I find it hard to believe many professional footballers are actually fans these days. They get sucked into the youth system so early now that it's not like they ever have time to properly support a team and be a fan. Wasn't Colback with us from like the age of eight?
This but it doesn't suit the agendas.

This. I actually didn't mind colback when he left, he will have known he was going (and where he was going to) but he continued to put 100% in, including a couple of good performances near the end of the season which helped us to stay up. That showed a professionalism which, to be quite honest, a lot of our current lot lack even when they haven't got their next club lined up. When he left though he was so happy to pander to their media and make stupid comments that ended up biting him on the arse.

Because of the way he played before he left I wouldn't say that I hate him or anything but because of the way he went on having gone I'd never welcome him back
Well said that. He's also a pretty shite footballer an' all.

What is the obsession with bringing average players back to the club? There are hundreds of players out there, we pay scouts to identify players in lower leagues, abroad and keep tabs on players that might become available from academies from Premier League Clubs yet people on here keep dragging up players that achieved absolutely nothing with us.

As for players that have publicly burnt bridges with us after joining a bitter rival? Why, how would that work? Makes no sense whatsoever.
"we pay scouts to identify players"

This could be the flaw in your arguement

I'd be against bringing him back as it just feels like it would end up biting us in the arse. However, he's easily better than most, if not all, or out midfielders; nothing flash but keeps possession and is neat and tidy. Would have kept doing well for us in Poyet's system, was perfect for it; neat, keep the ball, quick short passes.

He did make an absolute twat of himself when he left, however so did the club (us, not the Scum). We dawdled on for ages offering him a contract and tried to get away with paying him peanuts, then we spat our dummy out that he took the best deal he could get and not have to move away etc....

The statement the club put out after he signed for them was embarrassing.

Exactly this. People need to get over themselves. He’s nowt flash but better than what we have. We are rock bottom of championship ffs!

Yeah and he's the difference maker

We need to distance ourselves from shitty little mediocre players and you want to add more...besides NUFC have a player on their books who isn't playing and on a nice wage and we should help them out?? Makes zero sense...I'd rather sign youth then bring that shitbag back!

He's streets ahead of Honeyman but he has burned his bridges.

Be plenty of other players out there that would be an improvement on our dross in midfield

And the boro lads are difference makers?
Colback is average but he’s better than likes of Gibson, honeyman, rodwell and cattermole.

I don't know about the boro lads but I do know I want the club to go a different direction than papering over cracks...we've done it for years!! I want Chris Coleman to build a squad and if that means we take a few steps back in the process then so be it...Jack Colback means we haven't learned our lesson and we still have zero vision for the future of the club.

At present we have a very bleak future and colback is a decent championship player. The boro lads can’t even get in their team, at least colback played last season.

Other than leaving is for Newcastle did he say anything negative about us. I mean really quotes not made up shite. He might have, I just genuinely can't remember.
I don’t think so. He made out he was a lifelong Mag and said it would be difficult to come back to the SOL but that was all IIRC. The club put out a pretty scathing press release about the way he conducted his contract negotiations though.

Colback can't get in his team and is on a hefty wage, exactly what we've been littered with for years and we should just help them out because Colback is better than Honeyman?? Fuck no...Colbacks are dime a dozen and if we can't find better than we are truly fucked. You think moral is low now, wait till we bring that shitbag back and our results stay the same...happy days.

Made an absolute tit of himself when signing for them. Don't care how much it was orchestrated by the Ronnie Gill, he pandered to it.

Hope he ends up playing for Dunston Fed.

In fairness what was he meant to do?

He was already facing a tough task with that lot, so I’m sure a bit of encouragement from the Chronicle and Club site wouldn’t have been ignored.
