Another reply I've had tonight is 'he has not spent £70m because net spend is actually a thing'.

Can't wait to get paid, spend £400 on Christmas presents but claim I got them all for nowt because I've still some of my pay left over

Hahaha

If you tally up the costs of their side its certainly not cheap

he now has a worse record than joe kinnear ...... mags lowest points total after 17 games since at least 1989...... wiki seasons only go back till then so it could be years before that. Not bad for the one of the highest paid managers in the prem

Bring back Joke in here :)

Would love that meltdown :) :)

After their game at the weekend the stat was that Rafa had 1 point less than Schteve after the same amount of games

Yes but schteve had the luxury of splashing big money of the likes of Gigi Whay Aye Naldum etc while poor Rafas been fed peanuts. What do you expect from a world class manager ?

Watched the whole game I was genuinely surprised at how innefective they were. There main threat in the first half was Ritchie whipping balls in from the left. Rafa moved him to the right in second half and he dissappeared and was then substituted. Yedelin was their best player by a country mile.

Diame on the other hand :-)

Looking at their remaining fixtures they will probably finish on 35 points which may or may not be enough

The beauty on the right munching on a stake bake ffs:lol::lol:

It's all a cunning plan to force the owners to dip their hands in their pockets according to one of the morons on twitter.

You know like how they did to spend £5m on Yedlin, £5m for Manquillo, £6m for Hanley, £4m for Daryl Murphy, £12m for Jacob Murphy, £5m for Diame
They go on about NET SPEND but it's no excuse for spunking almost £40m on those f***ing knackers.

You lads always wonder why Newcastle fans post on here - it's probably because it's our second most active forum. I know you lot don't have a lot to talk about with your own shambles of a club, but it's unbelievable how many NUFC threads are on the first few pages.

They go on about 'net spend' but it's massively distorted by the disproportionate fees they got for Sissoko, Wijnaldum, Thauvin and others that weren't even wanted. If you apply the logic that that's the player's worth so that's how much it costs to replace their contribution (either on a single player or on many) then you have to question why, with quarter of a season left and only one point from safety the managerial genius that is Benitez couldn't keep a squad with a midfield worth over £80m from relegation.

Loads of us questioned his business in the summer before the Championship season, admitting that they'd probably offer enough to get them out of the division but that it was very high outlay for a massively short term fix. We predicted that they'd struggle to move on a lot of the players he'd brought in to get them out the Championship, who clearly aren't good enough for the Premiership, and that's what hamstrung him to a large extent in the summer.

Then the funds he did get in the summer were used hideously in my opinion. He could have done far better business for the outlay in fees and wages. Even then with the squad he does have, it still seems to me that they're underachieving, at least in the last eight games. I'm sure a Pulis or an Allardyce (who I don't rate nearly as much as others on here), a Dyche or even a Hughton would have got more points out of the last eight with them.
