How long can Rafa last?

Course they did. Got any proof? Or is this another one of those handy Mags at Work, that can be relied upon to provide anecdotal evidence of whichever nonsense is being peddled about Newcastle fans at the time
Loads on Twitter (I know), but surely they are a fairly accurate cross section of the Newcastle support?

It doesnt burn us up at all in fact most safc fans think its quite funny how you would berate any other manager if you were in this position but idolise benitez. Long may it continue i say, I'm all for it

This is quality

You've convinced yourself we'd berate any other manager and that we idolise Benitez, that way, when it suits, you'll suddenly discover the criticism of Benitez that already exists and declare that Newcastle fans are fickle and we should be grateful and so on.

I mean it's a perfect, self fulfilling prophecy. It's childish, but you can't fault it's circular logic.

I don't need to convince myself I've seen it for myself over the years

I think that is known as “covering their arses “ once the reality has set in

They give endless amusement don't they?

I've noticed they always quote net spend for Benitez and total spend for Tufty ..... they must think we won't notice.

They also claim that any optimistic Mag post on here, or other social media, isn't correct and that the Mags they know are all sensible folk who have no expectations of anything but survival ..... it's laughable.

Are they? I'm not sure twitter is a particularly reliable source of considered opinion.

How often have you seen Arsenal fans take to twitter to declare their manager worse than shit, their striker f***ing woeful... or Man Utd fans calling Mourinho. There's a Chelsea fan I used to work with whose timeline is full of abuse towards Cahill, Willian etc.

I don't think it's a good measure of a fanbase at all.

The ones on the radio as well then?

I read somewhere 9 of the starting line up against Watford were Benitez signings. Can you confirm ?
I know you got beat 0 3 so this is obviously Mike Ashleys fault anyway.

Of course the ones on radio man, you're more likely to find reason on twitter than you are on the radio.

What do those phone in shows want? Controversy. That's why they've got walking talking shit pipes like Savage and Collymore on there. They won't have some sensible Sunderland fan speaking about your situation with consideration. No, they'll have some meth-head declaring that Coleman's going to get you into the play-offs this season!

Similarly they'll not have a Man Utd fan talking reasonably about his side, you'll get some cockney wideboy demanding Mourinho goes cos he parks the bus against the big sides.

Benitez had the chance to get rid of Mitrovic, Perez and Gayle ....but he bought Joselu to add to the group of inadequate strikers.

Looks like lots of people talking to themselves in this thread but its about Rafa so it can only mean one thing...

The Fish is furiously bashing away trying to defend the mags like hes their knight in shining armour, spending his days and nights getting bloodied fingers on the SMB.

It's bizarre. I think Benitez is a good manager but some of them will not even accept any little bit of criticism of him whatsoever. It's all Ashleys fault. Very strange.

I agree, he's a decent manager and is always capable of getting a result.

But, with the budget he's had, I don't think he's any better than the likes of Allardyce, Dyche, Hughes, Pulis or quite a few more.

There are plenty of managers who'd be doing better imo, so I'm happy to see them stick with him.

It terrified me when Bobby Robson was there because he really was likely to win something for them.

Bizarrely he’ll go on about Big Sams style of football yet Mags I know season card holders say the football under Bouncy has been mainly awful even in the championship last year when they were winning

The ones who I know in person?
