fair point fact is that cattermole has been shit for approx two years.. your post does highlight a point that hes been capable of doing the business... soo whats changed .. injuries/bottle/ not arsed? all the above.

last decent game was norwich away
(defoe borini wattmore scored)
Derby at home this season

Derby at home this season
ok two (maybe) in in approx 21+months plus time before norwich
hardly a ringing endorsement

not wanting to scapegoat him ... Kone Jones are equally as bad.. rodwell is infinitely worse

fitness is the common denominator in my book

He looks shot to bits. There were glimpses earlier in the season where he looked head and shoulders a better player than anyone else on the pitch - good control, a bit of vision, and good passing. Now he looks like he wadn't get a kick down the colliery welfare. It's sad to see but playing for Sunderland can't be good for the lad's mental health. I think he needs resting and we should try Gibson.

I also believe we should be playing a midfield 3 instead of 4-4-2. An extra body in there would take some of the pressure off Cattermole and Ndong.

So pleased to see the penny has finally droppped on this lad. I feel sorry for N'Dong having to constantly cover for his lack of pace, skill, passing and mobility. (I know he's far from great). I think one poster referring to him as our Steven Taylor got it absolutely spot on.

He looks finished but Grayson is making it worse by playing him in a 2 man midfield. He needs dropping but if he is to continue to play he needs to be at the base of a 3 man midfield so he can run less, maybe Ndong and Williams front of him

This seems so apparent to everyone except the man in charge it seems.

Ndong having to cover for someone else's passes? Christ.

More his lack of passing ability is what I meant. N'Dong is a 'battler' and needs someone who can really pass alongside him to compliment him.

He's the weakest battler I've ever seen then. He gets brushed off the ball embarrassingly any time he goes shoulder to shoulder with someone.

Cattermole being shite isn't the reason that Ndong's shite unfortunately.

He makes him look worse than is. That's the point. I'm not saying N'Dong is brilliant by any stretch but he essentially has to do the work of two people in there, and that is down to Lee Cattermole.

Edit.... Years

Talking of colliery welfare pitches, Cattermole is like an old pit pony who needs to be put out to grass.
