Rafa. He's still not happy

Aye fair play to them up the road - top manager and a good solid team. Credit where credits due.

Getting the best out of a rather average squad. Had his tactics spot on most of the time that ive seen them. Basically very organised and look dangerous at set pieces.

But remember, we read it on here at the start of the season, Sunderland fans would 'prefer' Grayson to Benitez.

'Raw' and 'doesn't need a chequebook' I seem to remember.

Idiotic donkeys

Today was a dreadful game like but to come out at the end with 3 points is all that matters.

Rafa's happy, infact at the the press conference yesterday he was beaming so god knows what he's like this evening :D

Aye. Surprisingly started to play alot better when Diame came on, couldn't see any difference between the Cabaye tackle and the one Lejeune got sent off for against spurs.

Same old Mags obsessed with players not getting sent off

Post/Pre-Season 2016 set the two clubs/owners apart.

They'd been relegated but were full of optimism about the future under a top class manager who has won it all. The owner proceeded to let him have enough cash to spend to make sure he stayed and they went back up.

We'd just pulled off a dramatic escape at the last, sending them down in the process, yet there was no talk of bold plans for the future just the usual relief of finishing fourth bottom. Within a couple of weeks of coming back Allardyce was moaning on about the lack of transfer activity/backing and then England came calling. Even if they hadn't the writing was on the wall, Short was going to employ his usual false economy and have us try to limp along again.

The big difference is in how each of the owners see their fan base. Ashley knows the mags will only accept so much and his appeasement was keeping rafa and making a decent stab at promotion. The arsehole we are stuck with has nothing but contempt for our support, when he can be bothered to acknowledge we exist at all. His response to getting us relegated was to hire a no mark, sell off anyone half decent, and prepare for life in league one.

Nicked 3pts today in a game between 2 shit looking sides. A decent side today (Palace looked better for most of it but toothless upfront) would’ve pulled the bastards apart today

Didn’t most the game but got one that paid off the created fuck all from open play against the worst side in the league at the min

Yes I've posted before that the summer of 2016 was pivotal. They were supposed to lose Benitez, riot, falling crowds and struggle in the Championship. Simultaneously we were gonna strive on and never again be involved in a relegation fight.

Nobody has managed that this season.

Only in our own daft minds....we should have all known better with Short involved. I don't really remember the club doing anything to capitalize on the success of staying up and relegating them. It could and should have been seen as a turning point in our ambitions to push on and make SAFC the "big" club (or at least the bald bloke holding the comb) in the region.

I know the England thing scuppered things in the end but I doubt Allardyce would have stayed anyway.
