Non League Football

So out off 3000 shields fans there on saturday, how many would be at the SOL if shields weren't playing ? A couple of hundred maximum in my opinion

I hope shields win just because they are the underdog. If pools win, then I hope they go on to some giant killing.

Can't understand how much hatred people have in their hearts for local lower league teams. It's pathetic. Other than Newcastle, I wish the best for every local team every weekend. Especially against the odds.

Exactly. If it was Seaham or any other local small team, great. Pathetic the way these fragile people feel threatened by a little team doing well. I look for Hartlepool results even Carlisle to see them do well.

Me too. Even Berwick for fucks sake. Doesn't bother me for more than 1 second if they lose but nice to hear them all win . If there's two local teams playing in the cup, whoever is in a lower league I want to win. I'd love shields to make it to league football. Along with pools, the heed, darlo, spenny... It's got to be good for local footy and the region in general. Better for all of us. Too many people just love to hate anything and everything.

It's because the shields fans on here go on like absolute bellends. I doubt Sunderland fans away from here give a fuck

My sentiments exactly. Calling Shields fans hypocrites when 13,000 of our fans have stopped going after relegation is somewhat ironic.

very understandable why most mackems would be supporting hartlepool

they see shields as a much bigger threat to sunderland than hartlepool in the way of declining revenue and declining attendances

as one owner is bringing a club to it's knees another owner is creating hope and belief

it's the perfect storm really

onwards and upwards versus downwards and administration

choose shields

The fact that Mariners Park holds about 4,000 makes your argument look a bit silly. If we were talking about a club that were attracting 20k-30k I'd have maybe agreed with you.

As it is, your argument is silly. Very silly.

Or people who have followed Hartlepool’s fortunes for a lot longer than South Shields.

Much of Sunderland’s support comes from South of Tyne & Wear hence people wanting Hartlepool to do well nothing to do with bitterness it’s historical fact.
Aye, loads of Hartlepool fans on here...

Eh, much? Some. I can understand some of our southern supporters having an affiliation to Hartlepool but some on here are just saying it to try and wind up the Tyneside hordes that follow Sunderland.

Well first first visit to Simonside Hall was in about 1953, and I went there regularly because they said Roker Park was too dangerous for a five year old.... First visit to Roker in 1959, just before relegation.
Went to both Shields and Sunderland for ages and then 36 years ago moved to Hartlepool...Hart Village actually..Kept Roker season ticket, went to Pools matches, didn't see much of Shields.
Torn on Saturday...can't decide!

I've been to a couple of Shields games in the last 6 months or so including the York game and thoroughly enjoyed it.
Me and my mate were offered tickets for this Saturday's cup game, but no
chance. I wish Shields all the best and have a soft spot for Hartlepool as well, but we're Sunlun supporters through thick and thin, I simply couldn't do it.
