We need to start sacking some of our players

How do you prove gross negligence? And, how do we ever attract other players again if we become the sacking club?
I think that by displays, that result in relegation which cost them and their colleagues to lose 40% of their wages, whilst causing the dismissal of others, would in a workplace in the real world would result in dismissal.

As for attracting players, has it ever been different?

In the workplace maybe. Footballers are a privileged species though.
That sums it all up.

It's been a lot better when it comes to attracting players - Bent, Malbranque, Zenden, Gyan, Darren Williams etc.

It would emulate a real world workplace, although, again, proving gross negligence is difficult anywhere!

The example I gave. In a real workplace, you perform in a poor way, for over three years, which results in your colleagues taking a pay cut of 40%, whilst in your/rodwell case, you lose nothing, your performance also means that numerous others are made redundant, would be the most obvious case of gross negligence ever

The problem is, well, how do you prove that Rodwell, to use an example, is directly responsible? It does seem like, given the way players seem to be controlling things, they should be sackable for very long term shoddy performance but, in reality, short of them thumping someone on the pitch, attacking a team mate in training or commiting a crime, they won't be sacked. The major problem is that professional team sport is one of the few lines of employment in which someone is both an employee and a valuable asset.

What about getting him on his sickness/injured record? I've known people being sacked for that in a normal workplace

As for a valuable asset, really? Rodwell will leave safc at the end of contract, after costing the club , all in , approx £30 milion.

Actually, that might work (depends on how the injuries happened). One of the problems we have is that the loons who employed him are long since gone. Some of the others mentioned as potential sackings are daft anyway (although Kone for repeated stupidity in our penalty area might work).

No money to pay off contracts, or replace with players of similar quality, let alone dealing with the resultant lawsuits.

Besides, we have enough trouble with recruitment a reputation for trying to cheat players of their wages would, I think, be the final nail in our coffin...

Always have and still want a scalextrics.

Is incompetence and negligence under contract law?
The only action taken against incompetent footballers is not being picked for the first team ,which may have an affect on win bonuses and the like. As most of them are sitting pretty on lengthy lucrative contracts, they don’t really care. They can only be sacked for serious professional misconduct which will be identified in the contract. We have had a recent example of this.

Start with Rodwell, Catts and Jones, show them the door. Sends a message to the rest of the squad that the days of f***ing around collecting thousands a week for not performing are over.
Can we not sack Galloway as well marra?

Totally agree with those 3 mind, said it loads do not fkn play them.

1 year left on contract
2 years left on contract
and wait for it...........................................................4 years left on contract.

:lol::lol::lol:

wooahhh... The answer is here after all. Redundancy! All you have to do as an employer is confirm that a particular job no longer exists and then you can turf out who you want that fits the role... So all we have to do (for 6 months) is confirm we are no longer needing midfielders et voila, problem solved. Our midfield are like ghosts anyway so who would notice if we genuinely didnt have one?
