Rafa. He's still not happy

Watched The Debate on Sky last night, they hit the nail on the head saying he didnt stay with them for a full year and risk his rep by not going up just to be hovering around 15th place this season.

They won't be around 15th, they will be around 20th. Their squad is the weakest in whole league, absolute shite

not that i'm biased against the horrible fuckers mind

No it wasn't, it was a very accurate reflection of how it's panned out - and you know it, that's why you have ignored the point. Truth hurts fishface
Well it isn't, but rather than just have "Yet it is, no it isn't" contradiction-fest 2017 I'll say this;

It's not down to Benitez to negotiate transfer fees, wages, clauses, etc. That's Charnley and Barnes' remit. It if were down to a man less interested in getting a bargain and more interested in a getting the right players, we may well have seen his primary targets join Newcastle, were they realistic.
He hasn't told all the players they're not the ones he wanted. That's a big old fib. In fact, he's said that he's been following Joselu's career from his time at Real Madrid.

Don't know who was on The Debate, but they're deluded if they think we could lurch from the Championship to top half of the Premier League.

Merson and Schwarzer (sp)

But its Benitez who will be expecting to be top half and now realises he's not being backed to do so as Ashley has said he doesnt have the funds.

You lot are f***ing mental.

Something goes right - Rafa is world class
Something goes wrong - Fatman/Charnley/A N other's fault

FSW can do no wrong - who's fault will it be if you lose at huddersfield????

The daft mags should be banned from here. If you want a more sensible debate go and talk to a castle wall. :)

That's contrary to the message Benitez has been putting out. He's all about managing expectations and knows that getting us into the top half consistently will be a long and difficult job. Not something likely in the first season back in the top flight. Especially when there's only 3 spaces in the top half that're available for anyone without the backing of an oil rich country. Once Arsenal, Chelsea, Everton, Liverpool, Man City, Man Utd and Spurs settle into the top 7, that leaves 8th, 9th and 10th for established Premier League clubs like Southampton, West Brom, West Ham etc. for us to somehow usurp.

If we'd been given £100m to spend on wages (plus the wages they'd demand) we might have had an outside chance. But we weren't, so we don't.

That's a weird interpretation of my post.

If we lose on Huddersfield because Benitez picks the wrong players, system etc. then it's his fault. If our key midfielder decides to act the **** and get sent off, it's probably his fault instead.

OK then. Name a few things that RB has got wrong since the end of last season?

Since the end of last season?

Making Jonjo Shelvey captain?

Could you name some things that you think he's got wrong? Given he doesn't negotiate transfers or contracts?

Unable to shift several players, not because of negotiations as such but because they were bad buys

Borefest tactics against a Spurs team that never got out of 1st gear

And as I previously said, telling the world that the players he has signed weren't the ones he wanted

That do for starters?

What a ridculous criticism.

He's not in charge of negotiations and we've sold Murphy, Thauvin, it looks like Lazaar is on his way and we've released a few others. It's important to remember that the window isn't shut. It's been made clear to a raft of players that they're not in his plans, Colback, Haidara, Krul, etc. I'd be surprised if we didn't see more departures. Tellingly it's the wages that seem a sticking point for the outgoing players, a facet of the club that Benitez is not in control of.

You think that a newly promoted side should go gung ho against Tottenham Hotspur? Behave yourself man. We played a system that was designed to frustrate the much better opposition side, and try to hit them on the break. A sensible, pragmatic approach that had we not lost 2 first team defenders to injury and gone a man down, could well have delivered a point*. It was the right system to use and it was working up until Shelvey showed his idiocy. I'm sorry you weren't entertained, but there's two things to consider here; firstly, I'd take a boring game every weekend if it delivered safety and secondly, given our games bear no relevance to your season you can choose not to watch them?

Has he actually told the players they're not wanted? Where are these quotes? I've seen him say the situation isn't what you want and I've heard him talk about signing players who're fifth on the list, but they're still on the list, therefore they're wanted, aren't they.

*though probably not.

Saying they'd struggle Moyes style

If Pardiola or McClaren set you up like that they would have been given pelters but because it's Rafa it was the right thing to do.

On Skysports the FSW has said the mugs need to sell before buying, well he has spent 80-90 million in just over 1 season on championship players apart from maybe Ritchie, Atsu and possibly Gayle. The mugs are going to struggle and I say Benitez will be gone by Christmas
