 there's a derangement on here where my meaning is twisted regardless what I type.

"Newcastle aren't currently a truly big club" EEEEeeee he think that they were once as big as Manchester United"
"No mate, you won't go down" Eeeeeee the patronising basser is being patronising.
"Rafa Benitez is a f***ing good manager" EeEeeeeeee he thinks Rafa is the Messiah!

 way too precious, you lot.
Who the fuck says eeeeeeeee? Only old people as far as I'm aware, no one else on here

I think when he does eventually go then Newcastle fans will wake up and realise he did nothing for them that any other manager couldn't have done on the budget he had. The only reason he gets the adulation is simply because it's Rafa Benitez and their fans are desperate to make him out to be a success. He's managed some massive clubs so they foolishly think that, by association, as long as they have him in charge then they're a massive club.

Absolutely every cringeworthy thing they do is geared up towards trying to convince the rest of the country that they're a big club. Until they win something then they'll never be seen as a big club. The fact is they had a successful spell in the 90's and early 2000's which most of them mistake as their rightful level. They're no different to us in the sense that for the last 50 years they've largely been a mediocre top teir team/ good second teir team.

They crave/need a messiah figure which started pretty much with Keegan.

The similarities with North Korea are pretty scary.

Nail on head. The text from a Mag after the cup draw saying "Newcastle Forest the tie of the round. Name me a bigger one?" summed their current thinking up.

Thats the beauty of the Mags, they are the reason there club stagnates. Managers feel the need to clamour to the "marquee" signing rather than the signings they actually need. At the moment there is a clamour for a striker, they probablys need a creative midfielder more. Gayle and Mitrovic could easily get 20 goals between them this season but they are demanding a top name striker who can get them 15 goals, they dont need one.

Instead their creative outlet is Shelvey, its a coin toss whether he recovers his form in the big boys league and they need a number 10 to play with Shelvey or a Shelvey upgrade much more than a new striker.

there's some truth in what you say in a lot of our fans, undeniably we support our team as do you's through thin and thin, plenty hang on to the past as it was a great time to be a Newcastle fan without winning anything during the times you speak of, Benitez is a likeable football man with undoubted quality, something a few of his predecessors didn't have so we get behind him, he's staying , as to the massive club, we do have it in our heads that we "deserve" something, i think it's a lot of frustration in truth that we can't even challenge/want to for a cup.............in truth we are a shite club with big crowds who win fuck all season after season our support wins us nothing but under Benitez it means we can at least know the team will put it in, we look forward to being in the top flight again, i really enjoyed the championship going to games where we had a chance of winning but now i'm expecting a few whacks and a fight to stay in the league, even watching the game last night scared the shit out of me. HWTL and fuck off to you

After we got beat off Southampton last season my mag brother in law suggested that we sack Moyes, to which I replied "what's the point, it's too late now we may aswell build for next season". To which he replied "why not, it worked for us". I said "Eh? He took you down!" :)

The expectation of the fans and what the local media, managers and plans think they need to say is part of their downfall.

Did you see the front page of the chronicle recently, it had a photo of one of their new signings with the headline 'Newcastle were my play station team as a lad' :)
