Both nowt and owt are in the OED.

He's no Mongo, that's for sure. He's not even as intelligent as Mongo, ffs.

TBH I always thought Mongo had hidden depths ..... the Mag is as shallow as a clowns diving pool.

Spending considerable amounts of money to fail to keep them up was a black mark against him.

He was appointed in March and had no involvement in any transfers. We were unbeaten in the last 6 games. We were relegated because of what happened before he came although the games at Norwich and Villa were desparately disappointing.

Your result against Chelsea was bizarre and Everton should have been fined for their non performance.

Let's see how our 2 clubs do this year, par performance for me would be for us just to stop up and you to finish 8-10th.

Like West Ham in 2015 ?

Benitez went for the draw because he was sure Chelsea would win ..... by the time the news filtered through he was in a panic and couldn't change things.

Villa had been absolutely rotten for a dozen games and had conceded more goals, per game, than Newcastle managed on target shots.

No excuse mate, he bottle that game and took you down.

I would disagree. The season consisted of 38 games.

haha aye but that is about the 6 in a row

Outside the derbies and that I don't watch their games

Lets just focus on us, they will end up where they end up

Things is Dave, this isn't a library where you can just pop on to see what's been written., you have to contribute to the board.

People keep coming on these threads to complain about them but don't post anything better.

If you want to focus on Sunderland just post a decent thread about us and people will respond.

If you can't abide threads, like this, the title should be enough to ward you off tbh.

I dont think he bottled it, there was plenty of chances to score. Mitrovic in particular wasted some good ones. All rather irrelevant, even if Newcastle had won that game, they would still have gone down. There has been another full season since then, seems a very long time ago now.

Ba left because of a transfer clause, as did Townsend, a clause that could have been avoided had we paid a little more in wages. Remy could have joined were he offered a commensurate wage to his value to the team.

Ben Arfa was chased out, but I was saying we didn't get value for any of them and haven't done for a while under Ashley. A criticism that is levelled at Benitez.

"About £100m" is a little harsh, but I don't care enough to nitpick. And fwiw we go over this every time, he totally overhauled a broken squad and made it fit for purpose. To do that and win the league will cost money, but it cost only some of the money we had available, so what exactly is the nature of your complaint?

Benitez has righted a sinking ship and returned to it the Premier League, Sunderland fans mithering about the cost of that is daft. We haven't broken any financial rules, we haven't blithely gambled on our club's financial future and we're near as damnit breaking even.

This gets juggled up as Benitez has wasted millions, only scraping to the title and will likely send us down again because, according to some on here, he's not a very good football manager. It's mental.

I don't think it's a binary state, there's a whole swathe of grey in between those options you describe.

I don't think spending the money we're to receive from the Premier League for this season, within this transfer window would put the club's long to medium term future at risk.

It appears Ashley & co are baulking at prices like £13m for Lucas Perez (regardless of whether the player would come or not), that's very very risky. Spending on quality to better deliver survive is a gamble, but hoping what you've already got is enough is a far, far more dicey prospect.
No bother mate, we could discuss it over a pint if we ever met but can't be arsed with all the typing.

Don't think he bottled it but the tactics against Villa were wrong, albeit Mitrovic missed a fabulous chance and against Norwich once we equalised we far the better side and Cisse would have won it but for an unbelievable save just before their winner.

I've no idea why there's the constant Benitez bashing on here. By all means dish it out if he's supported in the transfer market and results don't follow.

If Newcastle had won they'd have gone a point above Sunderland.

Newcastle only had 3 attempts on target ..... mid-table Watford had put 3 goals past Villa the week before.

It's not Benitez that is the aim of the piss taking. It's more to do with the way your fans are going on like he is the second coming of Christ. When he walks away and the impending meltdown from you lot is what is going to be really funny. You'll see grown men crying their eyes out over this. Maybe even a few smashed up phone boxes.

Basically should get a lot of credit for getting Newcastle promoted but should get a lot of blame for getting Newcastle relegated.

He took over a side who had a game in hand and survival in their hands. The fact he fucked up tactically against by far the worst side in the division is just baffling really.

That being said, last season Newcastle were impressive.

Ifs, buts, maybes....

Like I say, doesnt really matter now. We went down, and I thoroughly enjoyed the championship. Got back into going to the aways again. Lots of the lads I used to go to England games with started to turn up again. Its good down there, you need to embrace it this season.

I'm not saying it matters now ..... just that Benitez took you down with a better team than you have now.
