Live streaming platform unveiled for global EFL fans...

Streaming is been commonplace in pubs for the past 9 years or so and through Kodi in the last 3 years in particular, yet our gates have increased year on year over the past 5 years.

If all pubs/websites were banned from streaming matches do you think attendances would decrease or increase?

That's nice, dear. But I think you've made a mistake. Trolling and shite is supposed to be posted in Parsnip.

Posting an opinion = trolling

Correct decision been made, get over it.

Enjoy not watching any matches this season

For what it's worth...

Signed up to i-follow today from the UK and watched our preseason game against Brighton (1-1). It was the Ryan-air of streaming, no replays, no timer/scoreboard, 1 commentator, 1 camera angle, but still did the job.

So it made you pay attention to what was happening on the pitch? Rather like being there irl.

What do you do in Portland mate? I've visited it a few times. Always strikes me as the Scotland of the USA.

My wife and I own an art gallery on Alberta Street. Funnily enough I lived in Scotland for about 7 years before moving out here, there are some similarities!

The more popular and acceptable streaming has become, the more our average attendance has increased, despite the teams performance getting worse every year.

I don't believe streaming significantly impacts attendances. There's no evidence to support it and the overwhelming majority stream away games they can't get to, where we continue to sell out and have one of the best away followings in the country.

On the contrary, it doesn't take a genius to realise if you half the amount of games the average fan is able to see, the average fan will become less emotionally invested and therefore more likely to jack in.

Our attendances will drop regardless because of relegation and there'll be a good chunk on either side of the fence - some who haven't renewed but will return if they have something to believe in, and some who have but are very close to their tipping point or have only renewed out of habit. At least it they can stream games they're still doing something at 3pm on a Saturday, the last thing you want is fans to find something better to do.

It took years for attendances to recover after the 19 point season because fans got sick and gave up out of protest then found better ways to spend Saturday afternoons.

I bet we'd have got higher crowds if streaming was around then and fans still had an emotional attachment to the team.

I agree streams won't change attendances too much but disagree with most of that tbh. Fans who choose to stream games instead of attend are not proper supporters so the club shouldn't be interested in them anyway.

Niall Quinn would agree with me on the this topic.

''I would never criticise anyone who doesn't come to the stadium because of financial constraints, but I despise those who spend far more than the price of a ticket watching some overseas commentator describing the action at the nearby Stadium of Light.

''Contrary to the opinion of the Advocate General, the illegal showing of Saturday 3pm fixtures involving Sunderland has an extremely detrimental effect on our attendances at the Stadium of Light.

''I can point to the evidence uncovered by an agency who covertly visited pubs and clubs in our catchment area and witnessed thousands watching the illegal broadcasts.

''My belief is a significant number of these people are taking the easy option of spending their money in the pub watching their team as opposed to supporting their team and helping to create a better atmosphere at the Stadium.

''Our attendances are down for a couple of reasons and the economic uncertainty right now is a factor.

''All clubs thrive on full stadiums. Loud, passionate support is the backbone of football and when our stadium is full, we are a force to be reckoned with.''

Quinn said that in early 2011 though, the world has moved on since then

Quinn was referring to fans who spent all day drinking in pubs a mile or two away from the ground drinking while we played at home, not your average season ticket holder who streams away games on Kodi from the settee.

I agree with Quinn for the record and don't think pubs in the town should show home games, but our attendance have increased year on year since then and pubs are a lot less popular for games now.

You're right though, the people who stream home games aren't real fans, and that is exactly the point. They aren't suddenly going to buy a ticket, they'll still go on the drink instead, the match was just an excuse.

The vast majority of people nowadays stream away games only yet we sell out all bar 1-2 away games every year. You don't seem to grasp this

Quinny an idiot as well then?

Thinking streaming affects attendance's he is aye, lads might not be able to afford to go to the match, a couple of beers watching a stream is a lot cheaper than a match ticket

This whole thread is about a platform aimed at foreign supporters anyway so how will that affect attendance's?

All I'm saying is if legal streams for matches are available then it could affect attendances negatively. The club have explained why they aren't offering this service and explained it well. The angry emails from people were an overreaction.

I'll take Quinn's opinion more serious than yours

The streams are aimed at foreign supporters but no doubt they will be available in this country.

Saw something on Facebook this morning that NASA has already reached out to Steve Dean. Good to know they're on it.

That's great news. Not sure how much sway the BLC has or how much they'll want to pressure the club on the behalf of overseas branches but it'll at least let them know people are not happy.

I've sent my email off to them. Felt pretty good, cathartic to let them know what an utter mess of a business they are. Complete amateurs.
