Wikipedia the fountain of all truthful knowledge now is it

I could edit it and say it to say anything

I was of the opinion he owned the land around the stadium and was either looking to sell/or had sold it. I could be wrong though

The land around the stadium is a different scenario.

The council has, over the years, blocked expansion of the stadium and made lots of money from the land around it.

Wrong again the council hasn't blocked expansion

The east stand is surrounded by listed halls of residence which prevents any expansion that side. The Gallowgate can't be expanded due to the Metro station and buildings around it which is owned by Ashley.

The ground can be extended at the Gallowgate end without encroaching on the Metro system. However it would mean have structure flying over Strawberry Place and for the number of additional seats that could've added it does not merit the expense.

Get your facts right before posting.

i was stating that the council have not blocked any expansion like the bitter one said earlier

They don't own the land that the metro sits on - that is owned by Ashley. The council own a small strip at the edge of the car park running alongside the road.

You're another one who needs to get his facts right but chooses not to as it doesn't sit with your agenda and overall bitterness to the Mags.

I'm all for having a go at them but not by making shit up.

Agree with that on both counts - yes they haven't blocked it and yes he is bitter.

The listing means the terrace cannot be removed and also the ground cannot be extended upward at that point with a second tier due to abutting a conservation area and issue to rights of light.

You also stated the gallowgate CAN'T be extended or are have misinterpreted that post?

oh look another bitter one arrives

It can't really as its not feasible....i may have quoted an incorrect statement but it was nothing compared to the made up shit that a few spout

Bitter? I don't see one shred of bitterness in that post. You're very defensive, so is the poster stating incorrect facts when he says it can be extended or are you incorrect saying it can't be?

I see you've changed it from can't to it's not feasible, could you please clarify what you actually mean?

The reason it has not or won't be extended is due to the land/road behind the gallowgate on strawberry place. The road is a thoroughfare and would have to still be operational, which intern would mean it having to run through the stand. The amount of seats as has previously been stated that it would increase by makes it an unfeasible project

So it's not a case of the metro as you said then?

Thanks for clearing that up.

What do you mean 'wrong again' ....... Ashley does NOT own the land the ground is built on nor does the club.

This is from your own club's historian, claiming he's wrong as well are you?

"NEWCASTLE United have - as tenants of the prestigious St. James' Park site - never had an easy route from the outset in attempting to modernise their facilities."

"During the Twenties the club attempted to take development a stage further, putting plans together for covered accommodation on the open sides of the ground. Archibald Leitch, a distinguished football ground architect was employed to produce a scheme which included double-decker stands and complete cover around the ground.

However, after much wrangling between landlord and planners which lasted to 1930, all that was built was a modest cover over the Leazes End enclosure."

As for my claim that 'The council has, over the years, blocked expansion of the stadium.'

"And during the Fifties United's officials were again in turbulent disagreement with the Council over the thorny question of developing the same side of the stadium. United applied to build a two-tier stand, which would have increased capacity to 80,000. Newcastle United's plan never got off the drawing board."

"IN THE aftermath of the Bradford City fire disaster in 1985, local councils aimed safety checks on all existing facilities and considering the age of United's West Stand, the were bound to have problems - and they did. The structure came under vigorous inspection. Newcastle had to start to plan for a replacement. Another redevelopment proposal was lodged - with the original scheme now scrapped - but the City Council refused permission for the project. Further discussions took place and eventually part of the scheme was accepted."
