Benitez Future In Doubt Over Failure to Secure Key Signings

Reminds me of the time he went mad to buy Robbie Keane from Spurs, paid £20m for him, then decided he didn't really fancy him and sold him back to Spurs seven months later for £12m.
or spent ages chasing barry to replace alonso, to end up with neither of them

I'm disappointed we haven't done all our business early like Everton seem to have. We've known since pretty much December that we were likely to be in the top flight, so why weren't all the moves lined up for the minute the window opened?

What do you mean fall for it?

Manquillo is as much a ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ signing as Murphy was last season.

I meant he won't fall for the constructive or unfair dismissal

I am amazed anyone gave the lad another crack at the PL. He's rubbish.

I was disappointed when they got Yedlin as I thought he was exactly the sort of continuity we wanted and he had potential to balance out his flaws.

I would have been gutted if we'd kept Manquillo, even after relegation.

There's a theme, running through the board from Newcastle supporters, that the unfortunate 2nd relegation was mainly due to McClaren.

The blunt reality is that Newcastle have been poor for years and haven't come close to doing anything in the league or winning a trophy.

They hadn't progressed past the 4th round of the FA Cup in a decade.

The league finishes are posted below with 10th being the best they could manage despite huge amounts being spent and Carr being proclaimed a genius in the European transfer market.

The other finishes were 15th, 16th and 18th which is dreadful considering the money spent and the 'size of the club'.

So having been relegated, selling their best players, buying 2nd rate replacements and signing the likes of Manquillo, how can they believe they'll do anything but struggle again?
