New doctor who

Well apart from fifty odd years on TV and eleven consecutive instances of the Doctor regenerating as another male... well twelve, because David Tennant once regenerated into himself and made a David Tennant clone in the process who could go off and buck Billie Piper.

That doesn't forbid the doctor from being male, though. I find it a bit weird that a TV show about an alien who can travel both space and time and regenerate into an entirely different body cannot possibly be anything other than a man. I wonder if people would also kick off if the doctor was not white.

I don't give a shiny shit if there is or isn't anything in Dr Who canon. It's my personal opinion based on the farce they made of the Master when they turned him female. Getting a conscience, flirting with the Doctor and self sacrifice are NOT and never should be any part of the makeup of the Master.

If they turn the Doctor into some sort of weeping willow, lusting over every bloke she meets and stroking kittens then that is not a Doctor that I want any part of. Stuff PC.

Who said that a female would be a weeping willow, lusting after every bloke she met and stroking kittens? They could develop a strong female character for the doctor.

You said it's your personal opinion because of the mess they made of casting the master, but before you said it was because it was politically correct. Make up your mind.

I wouldn't really be bothered about Capaldi regenerating into a woman, if the choices weren't insipid and uninspiring - and frankly most, if not all of 'The Doctor should be a woman' talk I've seen on the internet has actually been from faux progressive white men, as an exercise in 'equality' rather than well, the quality of the series going forward. I'm not sure most of these people actually have a preferred female candidate in mind, they're just hell bent that it should be a woman. Faux progressive liberal politics ftw. Mind you, the male choices for the new Doctor are equally, if not in many cases more insipid and uninspiring and I'm currently of the school of thought that they should just cancel the show now and quit while they're still somewhat ahead. Chibnall is f***ing dreadful.

Well in the last few seasons there's been a white male regenerate into a black woman and The Master/Missy. I liked Michelle Gomez performance and thought it was an interesting twist at the time and was refreshing. However, there is some degree of distinction between doing that with supporting characters - I mean for example, essentially for all intents and purposes Missy didn't necessarily have to be 'The Master' at all and could easily have also been written as a distinct stand alone character for all that it mattered. The only female actor I've seen who could probably do the more mercurial aspects essentially associated with The Doctor's character and pull it off would be Ruth Wilson (Alice Morgan from Luther).

Paterson Joseph off Peep Show was a rumour put about last time round and it was pretty well received

Would have been class, funny as owt playing Johnson

Knowing today's propensity towards the fear of offending the new Dr will likely be a female, lesbian, black, a muslim, have one leg and drive a carbon neutral tardis in which all the spare rooms have been turned into accommodation for asylum seekers. That should cover it.
A gay Dr Who could finally beat the Daleks by zapping Davros with a shrink ray and using him as a vibrating butt plug

Any BBC employees reading this, feel free to use that
