Benitez Future In Doubt Over Failure to Secure Key Signings

Even worse then

Newly promoted sides are given leeway as they havent had financial backing. NUFC have. They should already be competitive.

Lol

Goalposts shifting again.

If us fans were expecting mid table we'd be deluded, a shite newly promoted team expecting to come up and be competitive, getting carried away etc

But because we fans aren't expecting that, its now gonna be a failure if we don't get mid table, based on cumulative financial spends starting from 2014.
Brilliant.

Newcastle boss Rafael Benitez frustrated by crazy transfer market
FED-UP Rafa Benitez has labelled the scramble for summer signings as ‘crazy’ with Newcastle struggling to land their top targets. So says Daily Star
It plain to all those without black and white specs on , he hasn't got the money he thought he was going to be given from agent Mike.:)

Newcastle fans know this and predicted it back in January when no reinforcements were brought in. This was always the concern.
Ashley over rulled the wiater from what I've read when he wanted to bring players in.. You have to admit Ashley called it right, only just, but he called it that they didn't need players in.

If Benitez wants the players and the promised funds aren't forthcoming to sign said players, who else is to blame?

Benitez

Ashley feels the team has been invested heavily last 3 seasons which it has. He needs to sell to increase transfer kitty but he cant as players were signed for inflated fees and wages last season.

Did Ashley promise a set amount?
I'm pretty sure he said money generated and no figure at all.
So that would be whatever they got for winning the championship and Money generated from sales I'd imagine.
Problem is he signed players on long contracts with I'd guess higher wages than other championship players. So, that's not much generated so far.

They dont get this do they

They have a 70m wage bill, spent 50m last preseason and already spent 15m this summer.

January was the first window in a while the haven't spent huge amounts. The state of their squad isn't due to lack of spending, it's buying poor players. Just like Sunderland.

They struggle with it, aye. Not sold one player yet and Gouffran has been offered a contract extension :-O

They didnt realise ffp is stricter at championship level.

Turnover barely covers wage bill at this level 6m to 10m signings can only be made by a few clubs. Villa cant do anything this summer till they sell.

Don't start and play the poor little newly promoted club card now. In May you lot were giving it the big un about how you will finish mid table next season based solely on how big you think your club is and the pull of Rafa

How much of a pull the club & Rafa do/don't have, it doesn't mean a great deal if the owner won't spend the going rate on transfers and wages.

To be fair, after Charnley had his computer confiscated by the Inland Revenue, he's struggling to get business done in various internet cafes, as Ashley won't sign off on 250 notes for a new laptop.
