Benitez Future In Doubt Over Failure to Secure Key Signings

He seems to believe he goes around the board righting wrongs and defending the good name of Newcastle United

If he's also spent time today on a Newcastle board then, as you say, he's posting his life away.
I'm an occasional reader and poster, sometimes I have time on my hands and have seen all the Palace rumours, this lad seems to thrive on attention off people who think he's a bit of a dick. Weird.

Imagine having the time, effort and need to have a long winded discussion/argument on a rivals message board

Fuckin strange bunch them unwashed fuckers.

But it's the Sunderland fans fault mind  it's like the knackers on here that think it's cool to get annoyed about the number of replies, but they don't acknowledge over half are from Newcastle fans

I suppose the difference now is the three clubs you mentioned all benefited from the mega TV deal last year while Newcastle didn't. There's no way any of them could have competed with Newcastle on wages two years ago. If Ashley was to accept responsibility for his mistakes in the relegation and put his hand in his pocket then there's no reason why Newcastle couldn't re-assert their position in the pecking order.

Newcastle are in a good position right now. They have a credible manager in charge, who can attract players because of what he has done in his career, who given the money and time will transform the club. However, the manager has enough confidence in his own ability to tell the owner to stuff the job if he doesn't get what he wants.

The thing with Ashely is, he might just think he can get another decent manager, if Benitez walks.
He doesn't seem to be able to attract many at the minute mind.

Yes players will go but given choice out of Watford, palace, Swansea (as Abraham shows) they'll choose those clubs rather than Newcastle or Sunderland. What that means is that we end up settling for 2nd and even 3rd choices. If you boys are hoping for some big names and a top half finish I fear you'll be disappointed.
We will have a top half finish even with our team of "Raggy-arsed Rovers" a delightful term coined by Dave Bassett back in the day. Our run to the playoff will be exciting;)

Oh for fucks sake this tit has resurfaced.

@Zig81 you're full of shit.....he's been watching the forum on live updates, even as a guest. Resurfaced my arse

88 pages

The mags will struggle to sign anybody of any substance with or without Rafa as no fucker wants to come up here. Clubs like palace, Watford etc can at least match the wages and players would rather be down south. If mags finish 17th it'll be a result for them IMO.

I hope you're counting the mag fan posts in the '88 pages' reference? Or are you basing it on sunderland fans only 'obsession'?

I'm not talking about two year ago though im talking about now and at present you are going to have it all on to just stay up this season never mind reasserting yourselves to your rightful place in pecking order (whatever that may be).
I really wouldn't place a great deal of stock in 'brand rafa' having the pull to bring a player in on his name either. This area is fast becoming a backwater and even if we do pull a rabbit out of hat and find a gem they will end up f***ing off for greener pastures at first opportunity.
Also I think you can refrain from referring to mags as 'they' as it's pretty clear where your allegiance lies. I have no issue with that by the way as in the main I think the mags on here are fine.

Pecking order as in financial clout, not league position.

I was using they to refer to the club itself, not the supporters. As much as I like to feel part of the club I have zero impact on how it is run, or how it is reported for that matter.

If a young foreign footballer is told he can have a career in the EPL, and two clubs are offering the same deal then playing for someone who he's heard of might swing it. It won't swing it as much as a few grand extra per week, but it has to part of the equation.

No, if two clubs are offering exactly the same deal they'll choose the one nearest to London.
Basically unless you offer more money, you'll be stepping aside for Bournemouth next season.

With the impact of tv money I don't think that gate receipts make that significant a difference these days, it certainly doesn't in our case.
Location will play a bigger part than who the manager is. So far you've signed a lad from Chelsea who didn't set world alight on loan last season and a complete unknown from a average Spanish side. Also noticed you linked with a kid from Norwich as well. I don't doubt that players will arrive but I don't think the quality will be what you's hoped for when you got back up.

FSW was told by Charnley that the deal to get Ritchie was too expensive but he got his way in the end. Signs that players of any calbre are going to be hard to come by for Newcastle when you think Swansea want 50 million for Siggurdson.

When you add that Rafa over recent years has paid top dollar for "proven" players.....he won't want to gamble on cheap unknown foreigners imo. Which is what Ashley wants to do.

Nah ! I'm no having that, as much as I want to believe it, or at least until the resident mags say it is so. Mind you, that would be like the Fonz saying sorry

So what you're saying is that a young professional footballer and his advisors would not have heard about another Premier League club and their ranking. This is why everyone laughs at Newcastle.

Yep Ashley won't splash out on big name players because he'd have to pay way over the odds. He likes buying young uns cheap and then selling for a profit. FSW is a typical cheque book manager exactly the type Ashley is wary of. It will be interesting to see who blinks first.
