Benitez Future In Doubt Over Failure to Secure Key Signings

Do they still have that Colback lad, surely they'll be able to sell him for big money.

After all he's now benifitted from years of superior coaching and has had Rafadust sprinkled on him.

Funny that the clown spells out his 'full name', Mr Rafael Benitez, totally ignoring the fact his name is actually Maudes ....... seriously, his name is Maudes
The name is the thing you picked up on, not the idiotic text speak?

You are beginning to embarrass yourself by what you are having to resort to. For the record it is water off a ducks back. But, you can still answer the question if you like
The only complement you are getting off me is your dogs look lovely.

People will go to the North East otherwise both clubs would be full of academy players. Money talks as ever. Ashley only sees the club as a means of making money so he's not going to be paying what he sees as over the odds for players. The difference between him and the owners of other clubs is they are prepared to make less of a profit, but a profit nonetheless.
Yes players will go but given choice out of Watford, palace, Swansea (as Abraham shows) they'll choose those clubs rather than Newcastle or Sunderland. What that means is that we end up settling for 2nd and even 3rd choices. If you boys are hoping for some big names and a top half finish I fear you'll be disappointed.

The thing is while that could be entirely plausible knowing our owner, there hasn't been any real evidence of that being true, I've also heard he wanted the chance to work with Clement at Swansea who hes worked closely with at Chelsea in the past, I also heard that Chelsea preferred him to go to Swansea because they promised him more game time.

All the sources in the media who have actually bothered to get actual quotes from Benitez suggests he is still happy enough and he is still working hard on deals, if there really was huge friction with the club he wouldn't admit that this window is "crazy" would he, that would weaken his position.
It's also been widely reported that Rafa worked personally on the deal, skipped his wedding anniversary to meet with him and thought it was done. All the sources have said he's frustrated and it's getting worse.
While we like to believe the positives and ignore the negatives in the press (that's all football supporters) there is no getting away from the reports he's not a happy Rafa

Oh dear I agree with you :-O

Can't be arsed to read the thread. Has he gone yet?
No

What's the point in football when a player would rather play for Swansea than Newcastle though, I mean no offense but why even bother getting promoted unless you're going to spend a billion pounds

Swansea are a more established and stronger side. Mags have been relegated twice this decade and a third time come next May

I trust Rafa ( I know, I know) to get the balance right.

He signed players that raised eyebrows, Hanley, Murphy etc. But they did the job they were bought for. When injuries/suspensions/fatigue meant our 1st choice picks for those positions were absent, these unashionable, unfancied players slotted straight in, and did a job. He also spent big, big sums on players that are excellent for that division (Ritchie, Gayle), because he knows having a squad of grafters isn't enough to win automatic.

I'm not expecting us to spend £50m on someone like Sigurdsson or Barkley, we couldn't attract them. So it'll be gambles on foreign players, young players or players who've not yet been consistent in the Premier League.

This thread is literally peppered of Sunderland fans hooting with joy at claims and counterclaims for journalists. Will you  their way too?

I have enough of an idea to hold an opinion. If you're to  at people holding opinions without 100% of the information, you're going to flood this message board with  s aren't you?

Aye, this is his peak. But that peak would be fine for me this season. His 'Run down the wing, turn 90° left, run 10yds and shoot' routine gets boring, but if it gets us a few goals, freekicks, corners etc. I'm ok with it.
Mate, if you work at home and have the time to go in to this much detail, imagine how much more money you could earn by being productive.

He seems to believe he goes around the board righting wrongs and defending the good name of Newcastle United

If he's also spent time today on a Newcastle board then, as you say, he's posting his life away.

I suppose the difference now is the three clubs you mentioned all benefited from the mega TV deal last year while Newcastle didn't. There's no way any of them could have competed with Newcastle on wages two years ago. If Ashley was to accept responsibility for his mistakes in the relegation and put his hand in his pocket then there's no reason why Newcastle couldn't re-assert their position in the pecking order.

Newcastle are in a good position right now. They have a credible manager in charge, who can attract players because of what he has done in his career, who given the money and time will transform the club. However, the manager has enough confidence in his own ability to tell the owner to stuff the job if he doesn't get what he wants.

The thing with Ashely is, he might just think he can get another decent manager, if Benitez walks.
